In light of this morning's mega-deal, we've got a whole bundle of roster moves for you:
*Dallas Keuchel will be recalled from OKC to take J.A. Happ's spot in the rotation, starting tomorrow.
*Francisco Cordero and Ben Francisco will join the big club today in Phoenix, taking Happ's and Lyon's immediate spots, but another move will need to make room for Keuchel by tomorrow's game.
Thanks to the Chronicle, we learn:
*Asher Wojciechowski is headed to AA Corpus Christi.
*Carlos Perez will go to high-A Lancaster.
*David Rollins is going to low-A Lexington.
*Joe Musgrove will report to Rookie-ball Greeneville.
Also, courtesy of Greg Rajan, catcher Chris Wallace is moving up to OKC from Corpus, and catcher Ben Heath is moving up to Corpus from Lancaster (where Perez will take his spot).
And, not a transaction, but Jeff Luhnow says that even with Cordero's arrival, Brett Myers remains the Astros' closer... "for now."
We didn't come out here to play tiddlywinks, son.

June PreStros Employees of the Month
At this point in the season, the full season leagues have at least named their all-stars, if not already played the games. For younger players fatigue starts setting in as they're not quite used to the full schedule grind, and the stronger prospects start to pull away from the field. Let's see who's staying in the kitchen as the heat gets turned up.

15-13 in June
Hitter of the Month: Mike Hessman
For the second straight month, Mike Hessman gets the honors. In June, Mike hit .279/.319/.702 with 14 home runs and 27 runs batted in.
Pitcher of the Month: Mickey Storey
Mickey appeared in 10 games for Oklahoma City and threw 16 innings. During that stretch he posted a 0.56 ERA with three wins and one save. He struck out 15 and walked just two.
Honorable Mention:
Jimmy Paredes hit .324/.365/.454 with eight extra base hits and 11 steals.

Hitter of the Month: Kody Hinze
Kody finally showed the bat he displayed last season. He hit .306/.370/.542 with five homeruns in 72 at bats.
Pitcher of the Month: Alex Sogard
Alex is another guy who struggled early and is finally showing what he can do. During the month he pitched 11 innings in six appearances. While not factoring in any decisions or earning any saves, Alex put up an identical ERA and WHIP of 1.64 with nine strikeouts and three walks.
Honorable Mention:
Jonathan Villar hit .292/.396/.483 with five homers and 12 steals while drastically improving his walk rate and lowering his strikeout rate.
Jose Cisnero went 3-1 with a 2.18 ERA and 31 strikeouts in 33 innings.

12-12 in June
Hitter of the Month: Ben Heath
Ben has quietly but consistently put together a good season. In June he hit .407/.435/.627 with 12 runs, three home runs, and 16 rbi in 14 games.
Pitcher of the Month: Jose Trinidad
Jose built upon his May to put up unbelievable numbers in June. In eight games and 21 innings, he put up a 0.43 ERA and a 4-1 record out of the bullpen.
Honorable Mention:
Andrew Robinson went 0-1 with four saves while putting up a 2.40 ERA and 1.20 WHIP. He also struck out 22 in 15 innings.
George Springer hit .314/.455/.547 with five home runs while cutting his strikeout rate by a third.

14-12 in June
Hitter of the Month: Brandon Meredith
After a slow May, Brandon came on in June to put up a line of .284/.382/.568 with six home runs.
Pitcher of the Month: Murilo Gouvea
Murilo went 1-1 with 1 save while putting up a 0.61 ERA. Opposing batters hit just .114 against him while he struck out 14 in 14.2 innings.
Honorable Mention:
Nick Tropeano put up a 2.22 ERA while going 3-1 on the month. He struck out 30 in 28.1 innings and was promoted to Lancaster just before month end.
Delino DeShields hit .303/.407/.424 with 22 runs and 25 steals as he has already broken the single season minor league stolen base record for the Astros organization.

Wes Musick continues to look like a breakout candidate after helping the RedHawks beat Nashville (MIL) 4-1.
Musick went 6 innings, allowing 1 R on 7 H with 4 K. Mickey Storey
threw 2 scoreless innings. Jose Valdez pitched the ninth, allowing 1 H with 1 K
for save number 11.
LF-Scott Moore was 2x4 with 1 2B and 1 R. RF-Fernando Martinez was

Ross Seaton was roughed up in his AAA debut in what turned out to be a marathon of a game. OKC ultimately fell 11-10 in 14 innings.
Seaton went 4.2 innings and gave up 6 R (5 earned) on 7 H and 2 BB
with 1 K. Mickey Storey threw 2.1 scoreless innings with 3 H and 3 K. Xavier
Cedeno pitched 1 inning, allowing 4 R, all unearned, 3 H, and 1 BB. Fernando
Abad threw 3 scoreless innings and gave up 3 H and 2 BB with 4 K. Jose Valdez
gave 2 innings with 1 H, 2 BB, and 3 K. Sergio Perez took the loss with 1 IP

reached base when the third strike got away from the catcher. Jason Stoffel got

OKC took a 5-0 lead after two innings, and then added a 6-run 7th for a 12-3 win over Memphis. Aneury Rodriguez threw 5IP, 7H/3ER, 9K:1BB, with a WP, HBP, and HR. Adalberto Flores allowed three hits, but no runs, in 1.2IP; Jose Valdez inherited two of Flores' runners, but got the final out of the 7th with a K, and Sergio Perez allowed a hit and two walks, but no runs in the final 2IP as Memphis was 0x10 with RISP and left 13 LOBsters (captip to Street for the name).
Justin Ruggiano was 3x4 with a double, walk, and 2RBI. Fernando Martinez hit his first homer in the organization with a three-run shot in the first. Brett Wallace and Angel Sanchez were both 2x4 with a walk. Collin DeLome got the RF start over J.B. Shuck, who was 0x1 with a walk and an RBI.

OKC withstood a two-run 9th from Iowa to take the game 3-2. Andy Van Hekken improved to 3-4, throwing 6H/0ER, 5K:3BB in 6IP; Ross Wolf threw two perfect innings in relief, and Casey Fien struck out the side, but not before allowing a two-run, two-out homer in the 9th.

That's some dry spell there, Round Rock. After getting shutout again by Memphis, 2-0, the Express have now gone scoreless in three straight games, and managed to score just one run in the entire four-game series against the Redbirds. That's a 29-inning scoreless streak rolling for Round Rock as of last night. Sergio Perez threw 58 pitches in 3IP, 2H/0ER, 3K:3BB. Yorman Bazardo got the loss with 2H/2ER, 5K:2BB in 4IP, and Casey Daigle threw a perfect 9th. Round Rock out-hit Memphis 5-4, with Shuck, Bogusevic, Shelton, Maysonet, and Bellorin getting the lone extra-base hit.

FanGraphs evaluates the 2010 draft
Hey, so FanGraphs has exactly what we said in the title. Here's what they said about the Astros' Top 10 picks:
There was probably more pressure on the Astros to draft well — four of the first 58 picks, bad farm system — than any other team in baseball. They went for upside and potential, so it’s definitely too early to judge their haul. Kvasnicka’s early struggles are the most disconcerting, but easily written off given the defensive demands asked of him. And, I certainly wouldn’t be surprised if he’s not the best college hitter the team drafted, between Heath and Austin Wates. But the key for the draft will be the three top 60 high school guys, who come at an investment of more than $4 million.

Round Rock scored two in the 9th to make it look a little more respectable, but Tacoma pretty much ran this game for a 7-3 win. Wesley Wright allowed 8H/6ER, 1K:5BB in 4IP. Yorman Bazardo allowed 6H/1ER, 3K:2BB, and Gary Majewski threw an uneventful 8th inning. Chris Shelton was 3x5 with an RBI, Brian Bogusevic was 2x3 with an RBI and two walks, and Edwin Maysonet was 2x3 with an RBI and a walk.

Ben Heath called up to Lexington
It looks as though Tri-City catcher Ben Heath has been called up to Lexington, replacing an unnamed injured catcher. It was apparently bittersweet for Heath, who was in State College - the home of his collegiate career:
“It’s a little bit bittersweet because you’re excited to go up to the South Atlantic League. I was looking forward to (returning to Penn State), but I have to let that go and do the best with the opportunity I have.”
And manager Jim Pankovits doesn't agree 100% with the decision:
“I think he’s right on course. He probably would have been best served if he stayed down here, but it’s not going to hurt him to go up there and see that level of play also and see what’s at stake maybe for next year. He may be back, he may not.”
Pankovits, on Heath:
“Defensively he was making a lot of progress. Offensively he was kind of hot and cold, but you’re going to have that with a power hitter like he is. I think he’ll improve as he gets more comfortable. I think he’s got the type of personality where he is laid back and quiet. I think as soon as he sees that he belongs — wherever he’s playing — he’ll improve.”

With a 7-0 lead over Memphis, Round Rock allowed a 6-run 7th inning, but followed it up with a 4-run bottom half and an 11-6 win. Andy Van Hekken threw 6.2IP, 6H/5ER, 3K:4BB. Three of those earned runs came when Yorman Bazardo allowed a grand slam to Allen Craig. T.J. Burton threw a scoreless 9th. Brian Bogusevic was 3x4 with a walk. Tommy Everidge (HR, 2RBI) and Collin DeLome (double, 4RBI) had two hits each, while Ramon Vazquez added two more RBI to the total. Newly-acquired Edwin Bellorin got the start, and went 0x4 with a passed ball. Atta boy.

Off. But it was the Texas League All-Star Game, and the Hooks were well represented. Jordan Lyles threw a scoreless 4th inning, and got the win. Koby Clemens was 0x4 with 2Ks, Lou Santangelo was 0x1 with a K, and Jack Shuck was 0x3. Still, Shuck stole the spotlight with his glove:
With two outs in the top of the ninth inning and the South clinging to a one-run lead, Midland RockHounds closer Jared Lansford gave up consecutive hits to the Wilin Rosario of the Tulsa Drillers and Northwest Arkansas Naturals teammates Clint Robinson and Tim Smith.
When Smith singled to shallow left field, Rosario was waved around third and headed for home. Shuck fielded the ball on one hop and fired a strike to Hooks catcher Lou Santangelo who easily applied the tag to end the late-inning drama.
"I didn't expect him to be headed home, actually," Shuck said. "I knew I was playing shallow and I knew I had a shot at him when I saw him take off. I just let it go."

Kyle Godfrey threw a perfect 6th inning, while Ashton Mowdy allowed 2H/2ER, 1BB in 1IP, and Mike Modica allowed 2H/2ER, 2BB in 1IP. The JetHawks only collected three hits (Barnes, Cruz, Parejo). Brandon Barnes also drew the only walk, and thus became the only JetHawk to get on base twice.
