Round Rock

The misery continues for Round Rock as they drop their 8th in a row, losing 5-1 at Omaha, despite outhitting the Royals 13-8. Josh Banks threw a complete game, with 8IP, 8H/5ER, 3K:2BB, WP, HBP. Edwin Bellorin was 3x4, and Oswaldo Navarro, Chris Shelton, Brandon Barnes, Edwin Maysonet, and German Duran had two hits each. Navarro had your lone RBI, and Duran your only walk.

Man of the Match: Oswaldo Navarro

Corpus

Corpus was all over Frisco offensively, and held them to three hits for a 9-0 win. Erick Abreu improved to 4-4 with 7IP, 3H/0ER, 4K:0BB; Arcenio Leon threw 1IP, 0H/0ER, 1K:2BB, and Shane Wolf threw a perfect 9th. Albert Cartwright was 3x5 with a double and 2RBI, and Federico Hernandez was 3x4 with two runs scored. David Cook and Jon Gaston hit homers, and Koby Clemens added 2RBI. Clemens and Martinez combined for a 1x8 night.

Man of the Match: Erick Abreu

Mike Modica got the start, having made his first 35 appearances out of the bullpen, and threw 4IP, 5H/3ER; Jose Trinidad allowed 5H/2ER in 3IP, and Edwin Walker and David Carpenter threw an inning each. Brian Pellegrini and Lee Cruz each hit a solo homer for the scoring. Jay Austin stole his 53rd base of the year.

Butera came in for Jiovanni Mier as a defensive replacement in the 7th.

Man of the Match: Butera

Tri-City

The ValleyCats kept their half-game lead over Connecticut by beating up on last-place Lowell, 11-1. They'll finish the series with Lowell today, and then head to KeySpan Park for a brutal three-game season-closing series with McNamara Division leaders Brooklyn (48-23. Yeah, 25 games over .500 after 71 games). Andrew Robinson threw a strong start, going 6IP, 2H/0ER, 2K:2BB (11 groundouts, and three flyouts). Adam Champion allowed 1H/1ER, 2K:1BB, and John Frawley closed it out with 1H/0ER, 1K:0BB in 1IP. Adam Bailey and Mike Kvasnicka (RBI) were each 3x4, and Chris Wallace was 2x4 with 2RBI. Matt Nevarez took the win with two scoreless innings, and Jeilen Peguero and Evan Englebrook also threw scoreless innings to close it out. Freddy Parejo was 2x4 with 2RBI, and Jon Gaston was 2x3 with a walk. Jack Shuck got on base twice via hit and walk, and J.D. Martinez hit a two-out, go-ahead two-run triple in the eighth.

Man of the Match: I'm sorry, it's going to J.D. Martinez again.

Lancaster

Edwin Walker allowed 3H/0ER, 2K:3BB in 4IP of relief, while Brian Wabick allowed a run in IP, and Kyle Godfrey threw a perfect 9th. Brandon Wikoff was 2x3, and John Curtis was on base twice with a hit and drawing the only walk of the game.

Man of the Match: Barry Butera.

Lexington

Another rough start for Brad Dydalewicz and the Legends pitching staff leads to a 15-4 win for Hickory. Dydalewicz allowed 8H/10ER, with 2K:8BB (eight walks, just in case you were skimming) for 16 baserunners in 4IP. Mike Schurz allowed two of those runs with his own performance - 2.2IP, 6H/5ER, 3K:1BB. Dan Sarisky threw 1.1IP, 1H/0ER and Colton Pitkin threw a perfect 9th. Jake Goebbert was 3x4 with a double and a homer, and Altuve, Hinze (RBI), Meyer (RBI), and Hogue got the other hits. Jiovanni Mier was pinch-hit for in the 8th after an 0x3 day.

Man of the Match: Jake Goebbert

Alex Sogard allowed 5H/2ER, 2K:0BB and Mike Ness got the final out of the game. The ValleyCats committed almost as many errors (3) as they got hits (4). Errors by Kvasnicka, Enrique Hernandez, and Wilton Infante led to two unearned runs. Tyler Burnett (double, BB), Ben Heath, Dan Adamson, and Wilton Infante provided your hits.

Man of the Match: Tyler Burnett.

Greeneville

Doubleheader with Bluefield...

Game 1: Bluefield gets six in the top of the first, and then holds on for a 9-6 win. Ruben Alaniz allowed 5H/6ER, 0K:2BB in 0.2IP; Garrett Bullock struck out six, walked one, and allowed three hits (one of Alaniz' runs) in 3.1IP, and Paul Gerrish allowed 2H/3R (1ER), 2K:2BB in 3IP. Bryce Lane and Hector Rodriguez were each 2x3; Ricardo Garcia, Jonathan Merritt, Emilio King, Ryan Humphrey (HR), and Rodriguez provided your RBI. Alaniz has allowed 16ER in his last 3.1IP - having allowed 2ER in his first 16IP.

Man of the Match: Garrett Bullock

Game 2: Once again, Bluefield got out to a 6-0 lead, and despite a late run, Greeneville lost 6-3. Jeiler Castillo allowed 4H/3R (2ER), Phil Rorabaugh was charged with three unearned runs in 1IP, and Justin Harper walked three, but didn't allow a hit in 2IP. Hector Rodriguez' two errors, and one from Rorabaugh led to four unearned runs. The six Gastros hits were spread out over six players, with Jonathan Merritt (3B) and Ryan Humphrey (2RBI) standing out. Our Boy Bubby Williams - recipient of the 2nd Annual Astros County Adopt-a-Player contest - was 0x2 with a walk and a run.

Man of the Match: Ryan Humphrey.

GCL Astros

The GCL Marlins got themselves a walk-off in the 11th for a 3-2 win over the GCL Astros. Francis Ramirez allowed 1H/0ER, 1K:3BB in 3IP; Matison Smith gave up 6H/2R (1ER) in 4IP. Recently-demoted B.J. Hagen took the loss with 3H/1R (0ER), 0K:2BB in 3.1IP with Pedro Gomez facing one batter, and ending the game with a throwing error by 2B Josh Magee that scored Yefri Perez. Jordan Scott had your only multi-hit game (2x4, BB), and Jose Vargas was 0x5 with 2RBI and an outfield assist (nailing Lopez at home in the 7th).

Man of the Match: Jose Vargas.

Round Rock

The Express were off, but it was the Triple-A All-Star Game, and Josh Banks was on the hook for the 2-1 loss. Banks allowed 3H/2ER in the 6th inning. Brian Bogusevic didn't get in the game.

Corpus

Off.

Lancaster

LAncaster blew a huge lead in their 14-11 loss to Modesto. The JetHawks took an 8-0 lead into the 5th, allowed it to get to 11-8 by the mid-7th, tied it up, and ended up allowing the final three runs in the top of the 9th. Lee Cruz added a home run, as well.

Man of the Match: Barry Butera

Lexington

The Legends withstood a late Hickory rally and took it 7-4. Juan Minaya threw 5IP, 2H/0ER, 5K:3BB for the win. Zach Grimmett allowed 4H/3ER, 3K:1BB in 3IP; Colton Pitkin allowed 2H/1ER and Kirk Clark got his 20th save with 1H/0ER in 0.2IP. Lots of two-hit games here: Jose Altuve (SB, RBI), J.D. Martinez (BB, HR, 2RBI), Jonathan Meyer (2B), Our Boy Aaron Bray (2RBI), and Jiovanni Mier (2B, BB). Can we just point out the turnaround Our Boy Aaron Bray has experienced this season? In April/May, he was 18x93 with three extra-base hits. Since June 1, he has gone 38x107 with nine extra-base hits, raising his average to .267.

Man of the Match: J.D. Martinez

Round Rock

That didn't go well. The Memphis Redbirds scored the final nine runs of the game for a 12-4 win, and a split of the four-game series. Errors by Shelton, Johnson, and Polin Trinidad led to four unearned runs. Trinidad got the start, throwing 5.1IP, 7H/5R (1ER), 4K:2BB, while Sam Gervacio took the loss with 0H/0ER, 2K:2BB in 1.2IP. Jonah Bayliss and Evan Englebrook combined for 8H/7ER, 1K:1BB in 2IP of relief. Chris Johnson was in the lineup for the first time tonight, and went 1x4 with an RBI double, but Matt Kata was 3x4 with an RBI, and Bogusevic continued his hot streak with a 2x4 day.

Man of the Match: Matt Kata

Corpus Christi

Corpus jumped on San Antonio early for a 5-0 lead after two, and rode it out for the 8-1 win. Doug Arguello needed 108 pitches for the complete game, throwing 9IP, 3H/1ER, 5K:2BB and lowering his ERA to 2.93. Big-time offense, including a 4x5, 3-double, 5RBI day from Koby Clemens, and a 3x4 day from Wladimir Sutil. Jack Shuck and Lou Santangelo also had multi-hit games.

Men of the Match: That's right. Plural. Goes to both Clemens and Arguello.

Lancaster

Nice win from Lancaster, who scored the last three runs of the game (including one each in the 8th and 9th) for the 4-3 win over Inland Empire, on Barry Butera's walk-off RBI single - scoring Jordan Comadena, who had led off the inning with a walk. Leandro Cespedes was pulled after 3IP, 5H/3ER, 3K:4BB, but Schurz (3IP), Mowdy (1IP), and Godfrey (2IP) combined for 1H/0ER, 4K:6BB in 6IP. Butera (2x5), Ori (2x2, 2BB), and Barnes (2x4) each had two hits, while Jordan Comadena was 1x1 with 2BB.

Man of the Match: Barry Butera

Lexington

Despite getting outscored 12-18, Tanner Bushue and Kody Hinze came up big in a 2-1 win to get the series split. Bushue threw 7IP, 2H/0ER, 5K:0BB, while Jose Trinidad threw 1.2IP, 2H/1R (0ER), 2K:0BB and Kirk Clark closed it out for the save, though he gave up the hit that scored Greensboro's run in the top of the 9th. Kody Hinze hit a 2-run jack for his SAL-leading 8th homer, and 33rd RBI of the season. J.D. Martinez was 2x3 to raise his average to .356, while Jiovanni Mier was 0x4 with an error to drop his average to .191.

Man of the Match: Tanner Bushue

Round Rock

The Express got three in the 4th, and was able to trade runs the rest of the way for a 5-2 win over Omaha. Wesley Wright threw 6.1IP, 4H/1ER, 1K:3BB for his first win of the season, and T.J. Burton and Yorman Bazardo threw the final 2.2IP, with Bazardo allowing all of hte 3H/1ER, 2K:0BB. Edwin Maysonet was 3x4, and the Express got multi-hit games from Bourgeois (who was picked off AND caught stealing), Bogusevic, and DeLome. RBIs were courtesy of Shelton, Castro, Kata, and Locke (2). Locke is hitting .162 in his last ten games, but does have hits in five straight games (5x16).

Man of the Match: Drew Locke

Corpus Christi

Corpus and Frisco both had six hits, but Frisco had more runs for a 2-1 win. Jordan Lyles continues to impress, with 5IP, 4H/1ER, 7K:1BB - the lone run coming off a homer. Lyles' ERA is 2.30 with a WHIP of 0.89, and a 16:2 K:BB ratio. Chia-Jen Lo got the loss, allowing a run in 2IP, with 2H/1BB. Nelson Payano threw a scoreless 8th. Six hits for the Hooks, no XBH, and Wladimir Sutil was your only Hook with multiple hits, and he also had the RBI. Koby Clemens was 0x2, but with 2BB. Jon Gaston was 0x4 and is hitting .186.

Man of the Match: It has to be Jordan Lyles, no?

Lancaster

Lancaster rapped out 14 hits on their way to a 5-4 win over Rancho Cucamonga. Brad Dydalewicz threw 4IP, 4H/3ER, 4K:3BB; Ashton Mowdy got the win with 2.2IP, 5H/1ER, 2K:0BB, and David Berner recorded a save with 2.1IP, 2H/0ER, and 3K:0BB. Offensivley, Federico Hernandez and Barry Butera each had three hits, with Freddy Parejo getting two of his own. Rancho Cucamonga (I just like typing it. And saying it.) also stole six bases off Dydalewicz and catcher Hernandez, while the JetHawks were picked off/caught stealing three times.

Man of the Match: Barry Butera

Lexington

Drama! Intrigue! Rallies! The Lexington Legends, down 4-0 in the 5th, scored the next four runs to send it to extra innings. And when the Asheville Tourists scored three runs in the top of the 11th, the Legends scored three in the bottom of the 11th, on J.D. Martinez' bases-clearing double with two outs. And in the bottom of the 15th, J.D. Martinez' two-out ROE scored Andy Simunic for the 8-7 win. Brandt Walker threw 3.1IP, 5H/4ER, 1K:2BB, while Jose Trinidad, Wander Alvino, and Colton Pitkin combined for 10.2IP of relief, allowing 8H/3ER, 8K:4BB. Dan Sarisky got the win. A lot ABs to consider here. Rene Garcia was 3x7, while Jose Altuve and J.D. Martinez had multi-hit games as well.

Man of the Match: J.D. Martinez

Eddie's Farm: April 16

Round Rock

The Express gave up five in the top of the 7th to provide the margin in a 7-3 loss to New Orleans in the home opener. Polin Trinidad threw 5IP, 2H/2R (1ER), 4K:2BB, and the Express had a 3-2 lead in the 7th when Jared Wells came in and gave up 5ER on 5H/1BB in 0.2IP. Round Rock only got five hits on the night, including a double by Shelton and a triple by Maysonet. Bourgeois had a hit and his 10th stolen base on the season.

Man of the Match: Polin Trinidad

Corpus Christi

Postponed, due to wet field, and will be played as part of a doubleheader on Saturday.

Lancaster

Rancho Cucamonga was all over Lancaster early and often in a 9-1 win over the JetHawks. Brad Dydalewicz gave up 4H/5ER, 3K:2BB in 4IP, while Edwin Walker and Kyle Godfrey each gave up two earned runs. Pat Urckfitz was the only JetHawk pitcher to not allow a run. And there wasn't much going on offensively. Freddy Parejo was 2x4 for the only multi-hit game, while Jay Austin scored the lone run after a double, and Mark Ori had the lone RBI. Barry Butera got on base twice, once via the hit, and once via the lone walk.

Man of the Match: Barry Butera

Lexington

Rain shortened the Legends game against the Greenville Drive, and if they had played the full nine, they might have scored 100 runs combined. Lexington wins 12-8. Lexington jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first, Greenville answered with five in the 2nd and two in the 3rd before the Legends came back with five in the bottom of the 3rd. Jose Cisnero gave up 4H/7R (5ER), 3K:2BB in 3IP, and Nathan Pettus cleaned it up - and got the win - with 3IP of perfect relief, striking out five. Kirk Clark gave up an earned run in the 7th. And it was a big day for Kody Hinze, who was 3x4 with 2HR, including a 1st-inning grand slam, finishing with 6RBI. Jonathan Meyer was also 3x4, Jake Goebbert was 2x3 (2RBI), Jiovanni Mier was 2x3, and Grant Hogue was 2x4 with his 4th stolen base of the season. Good thing Jonathan Meyer is hitting .389, because he committed his 7th error of the season, leading to two unearned runs.

Man of the Match: Kody Hinze

Note, then, that four players from your 2009 draft class skipped Lexington to head to sunny California: Brandon Wikoff, Dallas Keuchel, David Berner, and 21st-round pick Barry Butera. The highest pick yet to be assigned to a team (meaning extended Spring Training for a likely Tri-City/Greeneville destination) is 3rd-Round pick Telvin Nash.

Butera spent 35 games at 2B, committing two errors in 186 chances for a .989 Fld%, and 24 games at SS, making six errors in 111 chances for a .946 Fld%. He did play two games at 3B and one in RF. He also stole 16 bases in 19 tries for a 84.2% success rate.

Butera, whose father played in the Boston organization, is a Louisiana boy drafted out of Boston College. He absolutely killed lefties, struggled in June and July, and smoked it in August before cooling off to end the season (.200/.317/.229 in his last ten games of the season). He doesn't strikeout terribly often, and all of his extra-base hits were doubles, but it will be interesting to see him in a full season.

Astros honor minor-league MVPs

So perhaps hoping to make everyone forget about how awful this season has been, the Astros honored the MVPs of Eddie's Farm: Tommy Manzella (who was in attendance, but probably had mustard on his jersey because, you know, he's not playing), Drew Locke, Koby Clemens, Brian Pellegrini, Barry Butera, Jose Altuve, Enrique Hernandez, and Hector Rodriguez.

This was funny, from writer Ben DuBose on Manzella, with a quote from Dave Clark:
Manzella, for his part, earned a September callup to the Astros, where he's had one hit in five at-bats. Penciled in by many as a potential starter for the 2010 club, he's likely to get more opportunities as the season draws to a close.

"It's an audition," interim manager Dave Clark said. "It's an opportunity to step up and give us something to build on for next year. We'd like to have somewhat of an idea going into Spring Training as to what we have."

Because nothing tells you about a player like garbage ABs with a week left in the season. That's the true barometer of a future starter.

Bobby Heck, on Koby Clemens, who will be coming to a Whataburger Field near you in 2010:
There are players that are prospects because of their God-given skill set, who separate themselves because they look different and do things different. Then there are other guys that are more grinder types, who do have a combination of tools and skills, but they just learn and go through level by level improvement, like Koby. He's on the radar."

Heck:
We feel real good about what we've done so far. The credit goes to our scouts; to get 25 of the first 26 players we drafted signed within two weeks, that's huge. The important thing is that the kids are out playing, because if they're out playing they have a chance to get here sooner. It's not going to be fixed in two Drafts. As excited as we are about some players right now, some are going to break our hearts. But if we get enough depth and quality through the Draft, we'll have some surprise, as well."

Eddie's Farm: August 27

Eddie's Farm was back at it last night as we wind down the minor-league seasons across the organization: 3-4 last night.

Round Rock
Completion of Wednesday's suspended game finishes with a 6-4 win, as Nashville scores three in the top of the 9th (with Corey Patterson's three-run jack). Tommy Manzella had the multi-hit game with a 2x5 night, Chris Johnson and Matt Kata had 2RBI each. Wesley Wright got the win, because Andy Van Hekken (AVH) had to be pulled for the completion of the game. Armando Benitez followed up his 3HR performance with a scoreless inning.

Game 2: And Round Rock won the shortened second game 2-1 on Chad Spann's 2-run homer. Mark McLemore threw 5IP, 4H/1ER, 1K:1BB and Chad Paronto got his second save of the day.

Corpus
Rough night for the Corpuses, as Midland dominated 10-0. The Hooks had four hits (Castro, Van Ostrand, Molina, and Moresi). Unbelievably, the Hooks' pitching staff only had three earned runs after errors from Ori, Weatherby, and Locke led to seven unearned runs. Lumsden got the loss, throwing 6IP, 5H/6R (1ER), 2K:4BB, Weatherby threw 3IP, 3H/4R (2ER), 1K:0BB.

Lancaster
The JetHawks only got three hits in a 4-0 loss to San Jose. Shuck, Rosario, and Barnes provided hits, and no JetHawk made it to scoring position. Chris Hicks threw 5IP, 7H/4ER, 5K:2BB, and San Jose pitcher Paul Oseguera threw a complete-game, 9IP, 3H/0ER, 15K:0BB.

Lexington
The Legends actually had a 4-0 lead in this game, and then Hickory scored eight unanswered runs for an 8-4 win over Lexington. Brandon Wikoff was 2x4 with an RBI, Federico Hernandez was 1x4 with a 2-run double. Ross Seaton threw 6IP, 5H/1ER (2 total), 5K:0BB, while Kyle Godfrey had his 2nd blown save and third loss of the season with 2IP, 5H/5R (1ER), 1K:0BB.

Tri-City
Despite out-hitting Staten Island 14-9, Tri-City found a way to lose 10-6. Brian Kemp was back in the leadoff spot, going 1x3 with a walk. The ValleyCats got multi-hit games from Barry Butera, J.D. Martinez, Jhonny Medrano (2 RBI), Rene Garcia, and Jorge De Leon. But going 3x13 with RISP doesn't help much. Brandt Walker threw 2IP, 6H/6ER, 1K:3BB, following by 2ER outings from Brendan Stines and Dan Sarisky. Mike Modica and Max Fearnow threw hitless IPs each.

Greeneville
Greeneville was on the right end of a 4-1 game against Burlington. Jonathan Meyer was 2x4 with a solo homer, and Grant Hogue, Our Boy Aaron Bray, Jiovanni Mier, Kyle Miller, Oscar Figueroa, and Ryan Humphrey all had hits, as well. Angel Gonzalez threw 6IP, 4H/1ER, 5K:1BB and Joan Belliard threw three perfect innings in relief for his first save.

Eddie's Farm: August 9

I'm trying to remember a day in which the minor-leaguers had a winning record for the day. That day was yesterday, as teams from Greeneville to Round Rock went 4-3.

Round Rock
Erick Abreu improved his age to 26, and his record to 2-0, as the Express beat Portland 6-4. Lou Santangelo was 2x4, and the other seven hits were scattered among seven other Expressists. Mark Saccomanno was 1x4 with 2RBI, Chris Johnson had a sac fly, and Tommy Manzella walked three times. Abrew threw 6IP, 5H/4ER, 4K:1BB while Gervacio, Daigle, and Paronto threw 3IP, 3H/0ER, 5K:1BB in relief.

Corpus Christi
Corpus scored two runs in the bottom of the 7th, but it wasn't enough as Midland won 3-2. Sutil and Florentino had two-hit games, with Sutil and Felix Molina getting the RBIs. Sergio Perez took the loss, throwing 6IP, 6H/3ER, 4K:0BB, mainly because all three Midland runs came on homers. C-Lo threw 2IP, 0H/0ER to lower his Double-A ERA to 3.00.

Lancaster
The JetHawks took a 4-3 lead into the 7th, but a run in the bottom of the 7th and five in the 8th gave Bakersfield a 9-6 win. The only JetHawk without a hit was Jon Gaston, who was 0x5 with 4Ks (ouch). Rosario, Weston, and Corrado had two hits each. Chris Salamida threw 6.1IP, 6H/4ER, 4K:2BB, while Francisco Abad took the loss with a 3ER, three-out performance. Jordan Powell also gave up 2ER in 0.2IP.

But it's good news from here on out!

Lexington
The Legends held off a late Asheville charge and won 7-6. Michael Diaz was 3x4 with a double and a triple, Brian Pellegrini and Steve Brown had two hits each - Brown had three RBI on a 2-run single and a solo homer. David Duncan threw 6IP, 8H/4ER, 5K:1BB.

Tri-City
Well, almost. Tri-City had a 2-0 lead in the sixth, but a 4-run inning will end that pretty quickly, and Williamsport emerged victorious 6-2. Barry Butera had two hits, Sean Barksdale hit a double, and J.D. Martinez hit his 4th homer of the season. Wander Alvino threw 6IP, 7H/4ER, and gave up 2HR in the loss.

Greeneville
Double-header for the Gastros...
Game 1: Jose Altuve was 3x4 with two doubles, Jiovanni Mier was 2x4, and Jonathan Meyer was 2x2 (each had an RBI). Juri Perez threw 5.2IP, 4H/1ER, 6K:3BB to improve to 3-0 and Travis Smink got his 5th save of the year in a 6-2 win.
Game 2: The Gastros took both games, this one with a 5-3 win, thanks mostly to Jonathan Meyer's first two professional homers, accounting for three of the Gastros' runs. Grant Hogue was 2x3 with a triple. Luis Cruz threw 4IP, 3H/2ER, 3K:2BB and Joan Belliard got the win with 3IP, 2H/0ER. The pitching staff induced four GIDPs, and got 13 groundball outs, compared to two flyball outs. Our boy Aaron Bray was not in the lineup in either game.

Eddie's Farm: August 6

Round Rock
Tacoma pieced together four one-run innings, and that was enough to beat the Express 4-1. Round Rock collected seven hits, two by Saccomanno and Esposito, with Saccomanno's double as the only XBH. McLemore got the loss, throwing 5IP, 10H/4R (3ER), 1K:4BB, but T.J. Burton, Roy Corcoran, and Chad Paronto threw 4IP of hitless relief (Corcoran did give up a walk as the only blemish in relief).

Corpus
The Hooks were held to one run on five hits in a 3-1 loss to San Antonio. Drew Locke did what Drew Locke does, and that's get hits - 2x4 with his 26th homer and 101st RBI of the season. Sutil, Van Ostrand, and DeLome got the other hits. Wilton Lopez threw 7IP, 2H/2ER, 4K:1BB.

Lancaster
A day after scoring 431 runs on High Desert, the JetHawks were held to two runs on seven hits in a 4-2 11-inning loss. Shuck and Corrado collected two hits, Marcos Cabral hit a homer, and Koby Clemens was 1x3 with two walks, though Lancaster was 0x10 with RISP. Leandro Cespedes threw 9IP, 5H/0ER (2R), 7K:1BB. The unearned runs came on a Cespedes pickoff error.

Lexington
Only win for Eddie's Farm last night was from Lexington, with a 10-5 win over Greenville. Steve Brown was 2x5 with a homer and 4 RBI. Pellegrini and Michael Diaz each had two hits, with Pellegrini providing a two-run homer in the 4th. Brad Dydalewicz got his 7th win of the season with 5IP, 5H/4ER, 5K:2BB.

Tri-City
Dallas Keuchel gave up 6H/2ER with 6K:1BB in 6IP, but still got the loss (dropping his record to 0-2 with a 2.12 ERA) in a 2-1 loss to Mahoning Valley. He also picked a Mahoning Valley-er off first. The ValleyCats only got six hits, three from Barry Butera and two from Brian Kemp - who had the lone RBI, scoring Butera. Jorge De Leon had the other hit.

Greeneville
Five Bluefield players had multi-hit games as the Gastros went down 7-4. Catcher Carlos Mojica was 4x4 (seven hits in his last 14 ABs, dating back to July 23), and Ryan Humphrey was 2x4. Our boy Aaron Bray was 0x4 with 1K. Angel Gonzalez gave up 8H/4R (3ER) in 4IP.
