Look at that! Four runs scored, all in the 9th inning, and the Astros come away with the win over Portland, 3-1. Andy Van Hekken threw 7IP, 3H/0ER, 6K:2BB; Chris Sampson got the win with a hit and a walk in 1IP, and Roy Corcoran gave up 2H/1ER for the save. German Duran was 2x4, with Shuck, Bogusevic (BB), Maysonet (RBI), and Shelton getting your other hits. Van Hekken even drew two walks. And for a guy hitting .033, this is inexcusable on the Beavers' part.

Shane Loux allowed 8H/2ER, 2K:1BB in 6.2IP (that's 5ER in his last 23.2IP). Jonah Bayliss allowed 1H/0ER, 3K:1BB in 1.1IP and Gary Majewski struck out three and walked one in 1IP. Six of the last seven Portland batters struck out. Jack Shuck (2x5) and Brian Bogusevic (2x5, HR, 2RBI) had your multi-hit games. Bogusevic and Drew Locke hit back-to-back jacks in the first inning. Locke was 1x2 with 2RBI and three walks.

Albuquerque took a 3-0 lead, Round Rock got two back, and that was all they could get in a 4-2 loss. Shane Loux took the loss despite a quality start of 6IP, 7H/3ER, 5K:1BB. Yorman Bazardo threw 2IP, 3H/1R (0ER), 0K:1BB, and Jonah Bayliss closed it out with 1IP, 2K. The Express only got six hits all night - and newcomer Tommy Everidge, playing 1B going 3x4 with a run. David Cook hit a two-run double, and Drew Meyer and Drew Locke added the other two hits.

But a sac fly from Stockton scored Grant Green for the game-winning run, and Stockton wins 10-9. Kyle Greenwalt allowed 3H/7R (3ER), 2K:3BB in 0.2IP. Leandro Cespedes gave up 5H/2ER, 4K:0BB in 4.1IP, and Patrick Urckfitz threw 3.1IP, 1H/0ER, 5K:2BB. David Berner took the loss, allowing 1H/1ER, in 1.2IP. Predictably, lots of hits. Renzo Tello hit a three-run homer and was 2x4, and Frank Almonte and Oscar Figueroa (2RBI) were both 2x4. In three seasons in the Venezuelan Summer League, Tello hit .264/.317/.437, and strikeouts were pretty out of control there (110K:30BB). In Greeneville last season, Tello showed considerable promise, hitting .288/.347/.431 with 14 extra-base hits, but completely bottomed out in 2009.

Round Rock
Round Rock beat Albuquerque again, this time 4-2, as more Express players jockey for a call-up, even if it's just sitting on the bench. Which makes me wonder, would the Astros prefer the prospects go home and play Halo all day, waiting for Spring Training, or learn some aspects of the Major-League lifestyle? Anyhow, Tommy Manzella hit a two-run shot in the 6th, while Jason Smith added a solo homer. Polin Trinidad threw 7.2IP, 10H/2ER, 9K:0BB, and Armando Benitez got his first save for The Rock.
Corpus
Brutal loss for the Hooks, losing on a walk-off homer in the bottom of the 11th, 1-0. Two errors (De Leon, Martinez) led to five unearned runs.
Game 2: And then Tri-City scored 15 runs in a 15-5 win, scoring seven in the first alone. Jhonny Medrano was 3x4 with 5RBI, Erik Castro was 3x4 with a two-run homer and 3RBI total. J.D. Got the piss kicked out of them 8-0 at the hands of the Tacoma Rainiers. Like the Astros, the Express drew no walks, and do much in the way of hitting, either. Abercrombie and Bogusevic each had two hits with Chris Johnson and Yordany providing the other two. Yorman Bazardo threw 5IP, 5H/5ER, 4K:3BB. Josh Muecke gave up 2ER in 2IP.

Andy Van Hekken got his sixth win for the Hooks with a 5-2win. Drew Locke was 4x5 and got his 100th RBI of the season; Nick Moresi (who is human and he wants to be loved...just like everybody else) was 3x4 with an RBI, while Jhon Florentino provided a two-run triple. Wladimir Sutil and a rehabbing Darin Erstad were both 2x5. AVH threw 7IP, 5H/1ER, 2K:3BB, while C-Lo threw 1IP, 1H/1ER and Evan Englebrook closed it out with a scoreless 9th.

Jeremy Johnson threw 8IP, 7H/1ER, 3K:1BB to get his 5th win of the season in a 3-2 win over the Iowa Cubs. Five of the Express' six hits came from 6-7-8 in the order, with Yordany and Spann getting two each and Jeremy Johnson (cliche alert) helping his own cause with an RBI single.

A late inning rally fell short as the Hooks fell 5-4 to Frisco. Mitch Einertson and Felix Molina had two hits each, while Jhon Florentino had a two-run single in the 8th. Brad James went 6IP, 6H/1ER, 4K:2BB and C-Lo got tagged up for his first runs allowed in Double-A with .1IP, 1H/4R (2ER), 0K:3BB in the 7th inning.
