Oklahoma City (45-43, 3.0 GB)

OKC tied the game up at Colorado Springs 2-2 in the 3rd, but then the SkySox got a pair of two-run innings in the 6th and 7th for a 6-2 win over OKC. Jake Buchanan allowed 7H/4ER, 1K:4BB in 6IP and Bobby Doran allowed 3H/2ER, 2K:0BB in 2IP.

Jonathan Villar (SB, RBI) and Austin Wates had two hits each. Robbie Grossman (2B), Marc Krauss (RBI), Max Stassi, and Ronny Torreyes (BB) each added a hit.

Corpus (6-8, 3.0 GB; 40-44 overall)

Corpus took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 4th, then went down 2-1 in the top of the 5th before scoring three in the bottom half for the final runs in a 4-2 win over Springfield. J.J. Jankowski threw 5IP, 4H/2ER, 2K:1BB; Mike Hauschild didn't allow a hit in 3IP but did walk three, and Travis Ballew threw a perfect 9th for his 4th save at Corpus.

The Hooks scattered five hits, but drew three walks to maximize their runs. Andrew Aplin (RBI), Jonathan Meyer (2RBI), Brandon Meredith, Jio Mier (2B), and Telvin Nash (RBI) each had hits.

Lancaster (9-5, 4.0 GB, 49-35 overall)

Lancaster was down 4-0 by the time they got on the board in the 7th, and lost 5-1 at Stockton. Josh Hader threw 4IP, 8H/4R (3ER), 5K:2BB; Zach Morton allowed 4H/1ER, 0K:1BB in 2.2IP, and Juan Minaya walked two in 1.1IP.

Jordan Scott (RBI), Rio Ruiz, and Danry Vasquez (run) had two hits each; Austin Elkins got a hit and two walks.

Quad Cities (8-6, 2.5GB; 43-40 overall)

Down 2-0 through the 4th inning at Beloit, Quad Cities rallied for a 6-3 win. Kevin Comer got his first win of the season, going 5IP and allowing 4H/2ER, 1K:1BB; Edison Frias gave up the symmetrically-pleasing 3H/1ER, 3K:1BB in 3IP, and Andrew Walter threw a perfect 9th for his 7th save.

Ronnie Mitchell hit two homers, knocking in three runs; Chase McDonald (RBI) and Dayne Parker - making his Quad Cities debut - had two hits each. Jose Fernandez was 1x3 with two runs scored, a walk, and two stolen bases.

Tri-City (12-8, 1.0 up)

Weird one in Vermont last night as the ValleyCats were down 3-0 by the end of the 1st, then scored four runs in the top of the 3rd, allowed the tying run in the bottom half of the inning, and ultimately came up short - 7-6, leaving the tying run on 3rd base. Sebastian Kessay threw 2.1IP, 4H/4ER, 4K:3BB (that's 18K in 10.1IP); Raul Rivera allowed 2H/0ER in 2.2IP; Francis Ramirez gave up 3H/3ER, 1K:1BB in 2IP, and Ryan Thompson allowed a hit in 1IP.

Jamie Ritchie was 3x5 with 2RBI; Bobby Boyd (2B, BB), Ryan Bottger (RBI), Nick Tanielu (2B, RBI), and Mott Hyde had two hits each.

Greeneville (6-8, 2.5GB)

Greeneville had a 6-3 lead heading into the 8th inning, and gave all the runs back. Then Greeneville scored six runs in the top of the 10th for a 12-6 win at Kingsport. Devonte German allowed 6H/3ER, 5K:3BB in 3.2IP; Eric Peterson allowed 1H/0ER, 3K:0BB in 1.1IP; Agapito Barrios gave up 4H/2ER, 1K:2BB in 3IP, and Aaron Greenwood got the BS/W with 3H/1ER, 1K:0BB in 2IP.

Juan Santana had himself a day, going 4x6 with a double, homer, five runs scored, and two stolen bases. Jason Martin was 2x5 with a walk and an RBI; Sean McMullen (2RBI), Yonathan Mejia (RBI), and Connor Goedert (RBI) had a hit and a walk each.

The GCL Astros never led the game, losing 8-2 to the intramurally-named GCL Yankees1. KYLE WEILAND threw 2IP, 1H/1ER, 1K:1BB; Joselo Pinales allowed 5H/3ER, 4K:1BB in 4IP; Christian Perdomo allowed a hit and struck out two in 1IP; Kyle Gehrs allowed 2H/4R (2ER), 0K:1BB in 0.1IP, with Cristhopher (yeah, that's right) gave up a hit that allowed all three inherited runners to score.

37th overall pick Derek Fisher made his professional debut, going 2x3 with a double and a walk. Osvaldo Duarte, Randy Cesar, and Alexander Melendez each added a hit.

Round Rock worked out their third-place aggression on OKC with a 9-2 win in which the RedHawks were held to four hits. Jake Buchanan got worked over for 11H/7ER, 4K:1BB in 6IP; Pat Urckfitz allowed a hit in 1IP and Wade LeBlanc allowed 3H/2ER in 1IP.

Jose Martinez hit a two-run homer, Japhet Amador, Jon Singleton (hitting 7th), and Raoul Torrez had your other hits. The Express only had one AB with runners in scoring position. George Springer was 0x2 with 2K.

Corpus (38-24, 1.0 GB) 79-53 overall

San Antonio put two on the board in the bottom of the 1st, but Corpus scored one in the 5th and got the go-ahead runs in the 7th for a 3-2 win at the Missions. Nick Tropeano allowed 4H/2R (1ER), striking out eight and walking none in 6IP. In Tropeano's last three starts, he has thrown 20IP, 14H/3ER, 18K:5BB. Andrew Robinson threw the final 3IP, allowing 3H/0ER, 1K:0BB.

Matt Duffy was 2x4 with a solo homer, and Ronald Torreyes was 2x4. Leo Heras and Enrique Hernandez got a hit, walk, and an RBI.

Lancaster (39-23, 9.0 up) 78-54 overall

Lancaster scored the final seven runs of the game to beat Rancho Cucamonga 7-1 and clinch the second-half (in addition to the first half) title. Colton Cain allowed 8H/1ER, 5K:1BB in 7.2IP; Kenny Long got the final four outs of the game.

Quad Cities wrapped up the 2nd playoff berth with their 7th win in their last eight games - a 5-1 win at Burlington. Mark Appel threw 5IP, allowing 4H/1ER, 3K:3BB; Jamaine Cotton allowed one walk in 3IP and Pat Christensen threw a perfect 9th.

Carlos Correa (2B, RBI), Rio Ruiz (HR, RBI) and Roberto Pena (HR, BB, RBI) had two hits each; Tony Kemp and Teoscar Hernandez had a hit and a walk each.

Tri-City put up two runs in each of the first two innings on their way to a 7-3 win over Staten Island for their fifth win in a row. Edison Frias allowed 3H/1ER, 4K:1BB in 6IP; Krishawn Holley allowed 2H/2ER in 1IP and Gonzalo Sanudo struck out two more batters in two scoreless innings. It has now been 23 appearances since Sanudo has walked a batter, with 39K:0BB in 27.2IP. For the season he has a 1.32 ERA/0.65 WHIP).

The RedHawks faced off against a rehabbing Chris Carpenter and emerged victorious with an 8-1 win over Memphis. Jake Buchanan threw 6IP, 5K:0BB, 5K:4BB to improve to 2-2 with a 3.75 ERA at Triple-A. Rhiner Cruz threw 2IP, 1H/1R (0ER), 1K:2BB, and Alex Sogard allowed 1H/0ER in 1IP.

OKC tagged up Carpenter for 9H/4ER, 2K:2BB in 3.1IP in which he threw 74 pitches. Robbie Grossman was 5x5 with a triple and an RBI; Marwin Gonzalez (2B, RBI), Jimmy Paredes, and Carlos Perez (2RBI) had two hits each. George Springer was 0x4 with a strikeout and 2RBI; Jon Singleton was 1x5 with 2K. Jonathan Villar was 0x3 with two walks and two runs scored.

Quad Cities (15-12, 3.5 GB), 53-43 overall

Lake County jumped on Chris Devenski and the RiverBandits with a 4-run first inning, and went on to win 5-3 over Quad Cities. Devenski allowed 9H/5ER, 7K:1BB, 2HR in 4IP; Juri Perez allowed 2H/0ER, 2K:2BB in the next 4IP.

Luis Alvarez was 3x4 with a solo homer; Rio Ruiz was 2x4 with an RBI (and has turned his season around with an .800 OPS in July, and a .300/.356/.500 in his last ten games); Teoscar Hernandez hit a solo homer. Carlos Correa was 0x4 with a strikeout.

Tri-City (22-11), 3.0 up

Tri-City took a 5-2 lead into the 7th, but Hudson Valley answered with five runs in the inning in a 7-5 win over the ValleyCats. Randall Fant threw 5IP, 7H/2ER, 1K:2BB; Richard Rodriguez allowed 1H/0ER in 1IP, and Zach Morton allowed 3H/5R (1ER), 1K:0BB in 3IP, getting the BS/L.

Down 10-8 to Johnson City heading into the top of the 9th with an eight-game win streak on the line, Greeneville tied the game in the 9th and added the game-winning run in the 10th to run the win streak to nine in an 11-10 win. Enderson Franco allowed 1H/4ER, 3K:4BB; Christian Garcia allowed 4H/3R (2ER), 1K:2BB in 2.2IP; Gerardo Ramirez gave up 5H/1ER, 2K:0BB in 2.2IP; Raul Rivera allowed 2H/2ER in 1IP and Tyler Brunnemann threw two perfect innings in relief to get the win.

The GCL Yankees1 (which sounds like the worst intramural team name ever) put up two runs in the top of the 1st, which would be all they needed in a 2-1 win over the GCL Astros. Troy Scribner allowed 5H/2R (1ER), 10K:1BB in 6IP and the hard-luck loss, the first of his pro career; Juan Santos gave up two walks in 2IP, and Zach Dando struck out one in 1IP.

Brett Booth was 2x4 with a double and a stolen base; Javaris Reynolds (SB), Yonathan Mejia, Jacob Nottingham (SB, BB), and Ydarqui Marte added your other hits.

Oklahoma City (25-35)

OKC got out to a 4-0 lead after four innings, and then held on for a 4-3 win at Omaha. Nelson Figueroa threw 6.1IP, 8H/2ER, 6K:2BB; Fernando Abad struck out both batters he faced; Ross Wolf allowed 1H/1ER, 1K:1BB in 1IP, while David Carpenter has yet to allow an earned run at OKC, striking out one in 1IP and recording his 4th save of the year.

Brian Bogusevic (2B) and Drew Locke (2B, 3RBI) had two hits each, while Tommy Manzella was 0x2 with 2BB. Koby Clemens, hitting 6th, was 1x3 with a walk.

Corpus (21-37)

Corpus had a 3-0 lead in the 5th, but gave up six of the next seven runs in a 6-4 loss to Midland. Ross Seaton gave up 5H/5R (3ER), 4K:2BB in 6IP; Blake King allowed 1H/1ER, 0K:1BB in 1IP (and has allowed runs in his last three outings, out of four, since coming over from the Cardinals' organization). Patrick Urckitz gave up a hit and a walk in 0.1IP, and Matt Nevarez got two quick outs to end the game.

The story of the Hooks has become Jose Altuve - who was 2x4 with a solo homer - and is hitting .438/.455/.750 since coming up from Lancaster. Inland Empire got out to a 3-0 lead, and Lancaster couldn't make up the difference, for a 3-2 loss. Robby Donovan threw 6IP, 6H/3R (2ER), 7K:1BB, unfortunately getting the loss and dropping to 2-7. Wander Alvino threw the final 2IP, allowing 1H/0ER, 0K:1BB.

The Lexington bullpen - assisted by the defense - imploded last night, allowing the final six runs of the game in the eighth and ninth innings to lose 8-7 at home to Hickory. Mike Foltynewicz allowed 6H/2ER, 2K:3BB in 6IP; Brian Streilein allowed 4H/2R (1ER) in 2IP, while Jorge De Leon allowed 3H/4R (0ER), 1K:1BB in 1IP. Errors by Ray King, two from Mike Kvasnicka, and Delino DeShields helped all of that.

Jiovanni Mier was 3x6 with two doubles, Adam Bailey was 3x4 with a double, walk, and 2RBI; Roberto Pena was 2x4 with a double and a homer.

The Astros were down 3-1, but got four late runs for a 5-3 win against the DSL Yankees2. Agapito Barrios threw 6IP, 5H/3ER, 4K:0BB; Jandel Gustave walked four in 1+IP but emerged otherwise unscathed; while Yeudy Perdomo threw 2IP, 0H/0ER, 2K:1BB, getting the win.
