PreStros Morning Report: April 10

TL;DR

*Affiliates go 4-0 on the day.
*George Springer and Jon Singleton hit back-to-back DINGERZ as OKC completed a four-game road sweep at New Orleans.
*Ross Seaton threw five scoreless innings and the Hooks were 5x9 w/RISP against Tulsa for their 6th straight win.
*Mark Appel struck out six in 5IP as Lancaster beat Lake Elsinore in extra innings.
*Four unearned runs and a solid start from Evan Grills gives Quad Cities a 5-3 win at Lansing.

Oklahoma City (6-2)

A 6-run 8th inning gave OKC an 8-2 win in the series finale over the Zephyrs and a five-game road winning streak to open the season. Bobby Doran threw 4.2IP, allowing 6H/2ER, 3K:0BB (48 of 71 pitches for strikes), with Raul Valdes closing out the 5th. David Martinez threw the next 4IP, allowing 3H/0ER, 2K:1BB.

George Springer was 2x3 with two walks, a stolen base, and the front end of an 8th inning back-to-back homer binge with Jon Singleton, who was 1x4 with a walk. Jonathan Meyer was 2x4 with a walk, Gregorio Petit and Japhet Amador both drove in two runs, and Max Stassi and Ronny Torreyes added a hit and a walk. Domingo Santana was 1x5 with an outfield assist.

Corpus (6-1)

The home opener for Corpus was tied 0-0 heading into the bottom of the 7th, when Corpus scored four runs against Tulsa and two in the 8th for their sixth straight win, 6-0. Ross Seaton allowed just 5H/0ER, 6K:1BB in 5IP; Luis Cruz threw 3IP, giving up 4H/0ER, 4K:2BB and Jordan Jankowski allowed a hit and struck out two in the 9th.

Corpus got six hits and four walks on the night, but were 5x9 w/RISP (Tulsa was 1x9). Matt Duffy was 2x4 with 2RBI, Nolan Fontana (2B), Andrew Aplin (Sac Fly RBI), and Enrique Hernandez each got a hit and drew a walk. Delino DeShields was 0x3 with a walk and a stolen base.

Lancaster (6-2)

The JetHawks were up 5-3 in the bottom of the 9th at Lake Elsinore when the Storm tied it up on a couple of hits and a sac fly, but a Roberto Pena lead-off single in the top of the 11th followed by a Jordan Scott sac bunt and a wild pitch allowed Tony Kemp to hit the sac fly that would score the game-winning run in a 6-5 Lancaster win. Mark Appel threw 5IP, 3H/2ER, with 6K:1BB; Mike Hauschild took the BS with 6H/3ER, 4K:1BB in 4IP; Juan Minaya threw a perfect 10th, and Mitchell Lambson got the save despite allowing a hit and a walk - and two strikeouts - in the bottom of the 11th.

The JetHawks won despite going 0x11 w/RISP. Tony Kemp (2B, RBI), Teoscar Hernandez (2B, RBI, 2SB) and Brandon Meredith (BB) each had two hits. Carlos Correa was 0x4 with a walk and a stolen base.

Quad Cities (3-4)

Quad Cities and Lansing were tied heading into the 7th before the River Bandits scored three runs in the 7th and one more in the 9th in a 5-3 win at Lansing. Evan Grills threw 5IP, allowing 5H/1ER, 5K:0BB, Michael Feliz gave up 3H/2ER, 4K:1BB in 2IP. Pat Christensen and Andrew Walter each held the Lugnuts hitless in the last two innings.

Brett Phillips was 3x4 and Conrad Gregor was 2x5 (RBI), while James Ramsay was 1x3 with a double and two walks. Two Lansing errors led to four unearned runs as Quad Cities went 2x13 w/RISP.

Man of the Match: Evan Grills
