Pre Stros Morning Report May 8th

AAA

Oklahoma City (20-12)

The Redhawks waited til the 9th inning to score any runs, but they scored enough to send the game to extras and eventually defeat the Tacoma Rainiers 7-6 in 10 innings on Wednesday. Down 6-0 after 8 1/2, the Redhawks had a steep hill to climb with only 3 outs to do it. Brett Wallace (3K) and Brandon Laird (H, R, 2B) both flied out to start the inning. Marc Krauss (2H, R, 2BB, PO) singled with 2 outs to keep the game alive. Jason Jaramillo (H, R, 2B, RBI, K) doubled on a liner to right scoring Krauss. Andrew Simunic (2H, R, BB, SB, CS) and Che-Hsuan Lin (R, 2BB, K) had back to back walks to load the bases for Cody Clark (H, R, RBI). Clark singled to right and scored Jaramillo. Jonathan Villar (H, R, HR (GS), 4RBI, BB, K, CS, PO) stepped to the plate with the bases loaded and hit his 3rd homer of the year, a grand slam to center field, tying the game and sending it to the 10th. Brandon Laird doubled with one out in the 10th. Marc Krauss was awarded first on an intentional walk. Brandon Laird moved to 3rd on a fly out off the bat of Jason Jaramillo, and eventually score on a throwing error by Tacoma shortstop Nick Franklin.

Lancaster (18-14)

The Jethawks dropped the first game of a double header 7-2 to the Lake Elsinore Storm. Lancaster scored the first of 2 runs in the bottom of the 3rd. Carlos Perdomo (H) singled on a liner to left to lead off the inning, but would be quickly erased by a double play ball off the bat of Joe Sclafani (H). MP Cokinos (2H, 2 2B, R) doubled to left and advanced to 3rd on a passed ball. Andrew Aplin (H, RBI, K, CS, PO) scored Cokinos on a single to right. Andrew Aplin would be picked off to end the inning. The Jethawks scored their other run of the game in the bottom of the 7th, off a Preston Tucker (H, R, HR, RBI, K) lead off homer, his 6th on the year. Chris Epps had a single and a stolen base.

Luis Cruz (1-3) started the 1st game for Lancaster and was tagged with his 2nd loss on the year. (4.1IP, 4H, 5ER, 3BB, 3K, 2HR)

Lancaster (18-15)

The Jethawks were held to 2 runs again in the 2nd game of their double header with Lake Elsinore (11-21). Both Jethawks runs came in the bottom of the 4th. Tyler Heineman (R, K) reached on a throwing error and advanced to 2nd on a single from Andrew APlin (H, R). MP Cokinos (H)laid down a sac bunt and moved the runners and reached 1st on a throwing error. Preston Tucker (2H, RBI) scored Heineman on a single to right. Telvin Nash (2K) was at the plate with the bases loaded with  no outs and struck out. Matt Duffy (H, 2B, RBI, K) got and RBI the easy way after being hit by a pitch.  Chris Epps (BB, K) grounded into a force out and Carlos Perdomo flied out, leaving the bases loaded.

Thomas Shirley (0-3) started the game for the Jethawks and was tagged with his 3rd loss of the year. (4.1IP, 7H, 3ER, BB, 3K)
Travis Ballew pitched 1.2 innings in relief. (3H, ER, 2K)
Kenny Long pitched the final inning of the game. (IP, K)

Quad Cities (19-11)

Quad Cities took down The Cedar Rapids Kernels (21-9) 4-2 on Wednesday. The River Bandits put up fence post in 4 different innings, including a span of 3 consecutive innings, 5th, 6th, 7th, late in the game. The first Quad Cities run came in the bottom of the 1st. Brian Blasik (3H, R, 2B, K) doubled with one out in the inning and scored on an Austin Elkins (H, RBI) single. In the 5th the River Bandits scored on Teoscar Hernandez's (H, R, HR, RBI, K) 2nd home run of the season, a solo shot to left. Jesse Wierzbicki (R, 2BB, K) reached on a walk in the 6th and would eventually score on a double play ball off the bat of Roberto Pena. In the 7th Jordan Scott R, BB, SB) scored on a single off the bat of Brian Blasik.

Brian Holmes started the game for the River Bandits. (4.2IP, 3H, 3BB, 8K)
Michael Dimock got the final out in the 5th. (0.1IP)
Jordan Jankowski (1-0) got the win after tossing 2.1 innings of one run ball. (2.1IP, 2H, ER, 3K, HR)
