ESPN's Jason Churchill and Keith Law (who ESPN is apparently trying to turn into the Next Mel Kiper Jr) break down all 30 MLB teams' draft philosophies. Again, it's Insider-only, but here is the Astros' apparent philosophy:
Astros stay within slot recommendations, often overdrafting in Round 1. Last year's top pick, catcher Jason Castro from Stanford, is off to a nice start in 2009, but C Max Sapp, P Brian Bogusevic and OF Eli Iorg haven't fared well as Houston first-round picks.
Do you want to, or should I, tell them that it's now OF Brian Bogusevic?
