Hardball Talk Astros Preview

Craig Calcaterra is running through his preseason team previews over at Hardball Talk and the Astros were the focus this morning.

The Big Question: One hundred losses again, right?Depends on how long the Astros keep their prospects on the farm.
Craig touches on what we all know, that the season is all about how the young guys do, despite the solid additions of Feldman, Fowler, and the bullpen overhaul. He's concerned, though, that if the Astros are more concerned with service time than getting the kids up when they're ready the club could be set for another 100 loss season.

Prediction: No surprises here: Fifth place, AL West.

Just because a player may already be better that the person playing their position on the ML club, doesn't necessarily mean he is ready.

What MoleBoy said. It annoys me that people are suddenly thinking that service time is suddenly the only reason the Astros don't call players up.

Jordan Lyles was one of the five best starters on the Astros when he was called up, but does that mean he was ready?
