Three executives say to watch out for the Astros

In Joel Sherman's Notes column for the New York Post, he reiterates what we heard (and by "we heard" we mean "we saw on Twitter") about the Astros being a dark horse for Shin-Soo Choo.

If the Astros sense much of the market has fallen away for Choo, perhaps they could step into that breach and offer, say, a six-year, $120 million deal if no one is willing to go to the seven-year, $140-ish million Choo is seeking.

I know you're just reporting on what your sources tell you, but in your heart of hearts, you know this won't happen.

The FO keeps saying they are still looking for a Middle of the Order Bat. Choo does not fit that profile. The Astros traded for Fowler instead of signing Choo.

There was a pretty big market for Fowler before the trade. Perhaps he gets flipped if Choo is signed? I don't know, just a thought. The Choo signing brings spotlight (good spotlight, for a change), and energizes the fanbase. For the record, I am against the signing, but for the novice fan that reads ESPN and reads endless articles on how Choo is the savior of a team, this makes a difference. It puts "butts in the seats", as the saying goes.

On a team where Jason Castro hits third, Choo is a middle of the order bat. If the Astros were going to tie up a bunch of money in a guy, Choo would be the perfect candidate. He gets on base at an exceptional rate and his skill set projects to age favorably.

If we too choo then we lose a draft pick that is worth a good chunk of signing bonus. Lunhow would not do that in a deep draft. This year we could really clean up in the draft. Hopefully with us picking 1a in draft for the last time we should take advantage of it. If we were later in draft order this would be a temptation.

Astros wouldn't lose the first overall pick signing Choo but rather the supplemental pick in between the first and second rounds that was acquired from Baltimore in the Norris trade.

Choo hits a bunch of doubles, that is for sure.

I am assuming it is the same person that wrote both of those comments as the general undertone and style is the same. You are an ignorant racist. I hope when you grow up, you realize and understand that you're not funny. I would also hope that you have the balls to sputter your hatred to someone's face, and not just the internet. Probably don't though.
