Astros select Ravel Santana in Rule 5 draft

With the first pick in the minor-league phase of the Rule 5 draft, the Astros selected 21-year old 6'2" 160lb RHB OF Ravel Santana from the Yankees.

In two seasons in the Dominican Summer League, Santana hit .281/.401/.464 and was promoted to the Gulf Coast League in 2011, hitting .296/.361/.568 in 41 games (185 PAs), with 40K:17BB. For Staten Island in the New York-Penn League (Short-Season), he hit .216/.304/.289 in 60 games (247 PAs) with 68K:25BB.

Santana has super high upside but has also had a couple of really tough injuries that have derailed his past two seasons. Really nice choice.
