Astros select Patrick Schuster in Rule 5 draft

So there's a little confusion regarding the Rule 5 pick this morning. Numerous people were saying that the Astros' selection in the Rule 5 Draft would be sent to the Padres to complete the Anthony Bass trade yesterday. With the Padres passing with their selection, that maybe isn't true, and remember the completion of the deal was a PTBNL or Cash. We don't know what's happening.

Anyway, Schuster is a 23-year old 6'1" 182lb LHP from New Port Richey, FL. He was Arizona's 13th Round draft pick in 2009. In five seasons, the last two at High-A Visalia, Schuster has a 3.55 ERA/1.30 WHIP with a 2.03 K:BB ratio (7.6 K/9; 3.8 BB/9). His best year was 2013, when he threw 44.1IP (55 games), with a 1.83 ERA/1.08 WHIP and 45K:18BB.

Schuster would have to stick on the 25-Man roster - be that Houston's or San Diego's - for 2014 or get offered back to Arizona.

UPDATE: Yep, the Astros sent Schuster to San Diego to complete the Anthony Bass trade.
