Bagwell would have fought Gomez at first

Perhaps you saw Brian McCann be the superhero that Gotham deserves, wrestling the title of Keeper of the Unwritten Rules of Baseball away from Chris Carpenter, and block the Brewers' Carlos Gomez from crossing the plate so he could start a fight. I actually did see it, as the whole sequence was part of the 12 minutes of Braves baseball I watched this season.

Well, in the aftermath, someone asked Billy Wagner what would have happened had Carlos Gomez done that to him, because of course they did.

Wagner said if it had happened when he played for the Astros, Gomez wouldn’t have made it past first base because Jeff Bagwell would have started a fight with him. Old school.

As if we needed another reason to feel nostalgic. I miss those days.

Bagwell would have done no such thing. Wagner is full of it.

If Bagwell had gone chest to chest with him, like McCann did, I would have been happy with that.

Anyone remember when Braun first came in the league and did something very similar Gomez did? As he ran past 1st base, Berkman yelled at Braun for "showboating". Funny that it's the same organization...
