Corpus Christi (17-11)

Sweep! The Hooks defeat the Midland RockHounds (13-15) 10-4 on Friday and sweep the 4 game series. Corpus got things going in the bottom of the 1st when George Springer (3H, 2R, 2B, HR, 3RBI, K) hit a solo home run to left field, his 9th on the year. Midland tied the game in the top of the 1st but that would not last long as Corpus put up 5 runs in the bottom of the 2nd. Michael Burgess (3H, 2R, 2 2B, RBI, BB, K) led off the inning with a walk and advanced on a wild pitch by RockHounds' pitcher Josh Bowman. After a Zach Johnson (R, 2BB, 2K) walk, Jonathan Meyer (2H, R, RBI, SB) singled on a line to left loading the bases. Jiovanni Mier (R, RBI. BB. K) walked in a run and the bases remained juiced for Austin Wates (2H, 2R, 3B, RBI, BB, K). Wates hit an infield single that scored Johnson and the bases were still loaded for Ben Orloff (H, 2RBI, BB). Orloff hit a sac fly to dead center scoring Jonathan Meyer. With 2 runners in scoring position, George Springer doubled to left scoring both runners, capping off the 5 run inning. The Hooks put up consecutive fence post in the 4th and 5th innings. Austin Wates tripled to lead off the forth and scored on a fielding error. In the 5th Michael Burgess scored on a single off the bat of Jonathan Meyer. Corpus put up there final 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th. Ben Orloff led of the inning with an infield single. With 1 out Domingo Santana (2H, R, 2B,2K) hit a ground ball to left that put runners on 1st and 2nd. A wild pitch and a passed ball led to George Springer crossing the plate and Domingo Santana advancing to 3rd. Michael Burgess doubled home Santana and drove in the 10th Corpus Christi run of the game.

Lancaster (16-11)

The Jethawks fell 9-7 to the High Desert Mavericks. As of 3AM Saturday morning i couldn't find a box score for the game but I do know that  Nolan Fontana went 4 for 4 with his 3rd home run of the year.

Quad Cities (16-10)

The River Bandits defeat the South Bend Silver Hawks 3-2 and avoid a sweep. After 6 innings, Quad Cities was down 2-0 and it was looking like a sweep was going to happen after all. But the River Bandits would score a run in consecutive innings and get the win. In the 7th Jesse Wierzbicki (H, 2R, K) reached on a throwing error by Silver Hawk shortstop Pedro Ruiz. Wierzbicki advanced to 2nd on a ground ball single to center by Miles Hamblin (2H, RBI, BB, K). Roberto Pena (H, K) hit an infield single to short that scored Jesse Wierzbicki. In the 8th, Astros County Low A employee of the month Teoscar Hernandez (H, R, HR, RBI, 2K), hit his 1st Midwest League homer of the year, a solo shot to left. Jesse Wierzbicki led off the 9th with a double and reached 3rd on a missed catch error by Socrates Brito on a pickoff attempt. Wierzbicki scored the winning run on a single from Miles Hamblin.
