Peter Gammons tweeted this morning that the Cardinals are interested in both a shortstop and a pitcher. He specifically mentioned Lucas Harrell and Bud Norris.
This would be Luhnow's Grudge Trade - a chance to match wits against John Mozeliak ("So I clearly cannot drink from.the cup in front of me"). If the Astros can get a Shelby Miller, would you do it?

I'd trade Norris and Villar to the Cards in a NEW YORK MINUTE, for a Shelby Miller type pitcher.
It would be S T U P I D to trade Harrell.
Lunhow knows the cardinals system pretty deep. it would be interesting to see what return he could get.
Norris/Harrell (even plus villar/Gonzales) isn't netting you a blue-chipper like Miller. Someone like Tyrell Jenkins might be a optimistic and reasonable return.
If the Cardinals really wanted a veteran, I don't understand why they wouldn't just sign Lohse (surely he'd take a 1 year deal at this point) and continue to develop their own prospects.
If the Cards sign Lohse, they lose their first round pick. That's exactly why Lohse is still out there......plus he wants a 3-4yr.deal.
They don't lose the pick in that instance because it's their pick. They'd just be resigning their own FA.
