Monday Morning Hot Links

It's my turn to give Flick a little bit of a break, so let's get to it:

*The Astros lost to the Nationals, 6-4. Notable:

-Yordan Alvarez: 2x2, RBI, 2B
-Abraham Toro: 2x2, 2RBI, 2B
-Wade Miley: 3.2IP, 4H/2ER, 3K:1BB

*Speaking of Yordan Alvarez, Josh Fields was released by the Dodgers. Alvarez was traded to Houston for Fields on August 1, 2016.

*In a move that indicates just how worried the Astros are about Jose Altuve's "left side," A.J. Hinch said he's not that worried. Hinch:
We feel very good about the fact this is a minor issue. We are going to sit him for a few days and do no activity just to make sure. He's doing fine, his spirits are up, he's Jose Altuve. He'll recover fine.

*Here's a cool story from McTaggart about Wade Miley's career getting rejuvenated by a threat from his Louisiana coach:
I made it real simple. You've got two options: You either work hard, or you're going to milk cows. It's up to you.

*Speaking of Wade Miley, Chandler Rome notes that the Astros are tinkering with his delivery, but not how quickly he pitches.

*Jerome Solomon sat down with Hinch to discuss his managing philosophy.

*The Brewers voted a full playoff share for Bob Uecker.

*Brian McCann turned down more money from the Cubs to go to the Braves, and said he either wanted to return to Houston or go back to Atlanta.

*A Birmingham City fan ran on to the field and attacked Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish, who later scored the game-winning goal.

*From Tuskegee Airman to Racing Godfather, Jim Barbour is the Living Legend You Don't Know About.

*A Musical Selection:
