Friday Morning Hot Links

We have now reached the point where nobody I know or follow on Twitter is even mentioning Spring Training so it feels like mid-January again.

Speaking of Spring Training, the Astros defeated the Marlins yesterday 4-1. Notes:
Stassi 2-2, RBI, BB
Kemp 0-1, 2 BB, SB
Verlander 3.1 IP, 5 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 5 SO
Martin 2 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 3 SO

Buster Olney has reported this morning that the Astros offered Maldonado a 2-year contract earlier this offseason.

JV is experimenting with a changeup for 2019.

The Astros giveaway days have been announced.

Ken Rosenthal has reported the Astros have offered Dallas Keuchel both a 1-year and 2-year deal, but Keuchel and Boras don't like the money.

Josh Reddick plays first base now?

Jose Altuve is taking some time off due to "side soreness" and is considered day to day.

Cionel Perez threw his first batting practice of the Spring.

A handicapped man held onto the back of a semi-truck on the highway to get somewhere in a quick and efficient manner.

Wisconsin is having a normal one.

On This Day in Baseball History

In 1930, Babe Ruth signed a 2 year, $130,000 contract. The Yankees GM at the time, Ed Barrow, said "no one will ever be paid more."
