Saturday Morning Hot Links

Mike Fiers got smoked and the Astros lose on the road. Again. The Masked Marvel has your recap.

They came out swinging. Even the first couple innings, they were swinging right off the bat. I need to make better pitchers early on in the count.

*Michael Feliz has a 41.25% K-rate.

*It looks as though A.J. Reed re-aggravated his hamstring injury.

*Kent Emanuel - the Astros 2013 3rd Round pick - threw 5IP, 4H/1ER, 2K:1BB in his season debut for Corpus last night. Notable? He only had Tommy John surgery 11 months ago. Carlos Gomez went 1x4 with a strikeout (he's 2x11 on his rehab stint).

*Mark Appel is on the DL with a strained right shoulder after the Phillies noticed a drop in velocity.

*From Vice: New technologies are forcing baseball to balance Big Data with Big Brother

The Phillies acquired Appel from Houston as part of the trade. He had a 1.64 ERA in his first four starts with the IronPigs but an 8.27 ERA in his last four. Appel was replaced in Lehigh Valley's rotation by righthander Ben Lively. The 24-year-old had a 1.87 ERA in nine starts at double A.

Even our trades get disrespected by the media!!
