Thursday Morning Hot Links

*The Astros have checked with the Braves on CF Ender Inciarte, and Jerry Crasnick says the Astros would likely need to move Carlos Gomez to make the move work. Inciarte is 25 years old, and posted a .747 OPS with the D'Backs in 2015 before being shipped to the Braves in the Shelby Miller deal.

*The Astros were one of twelve teams at cricketer Kieran Powell's workout. The 25-year old is looking for a signing bonus "close to $1m."
I just need the opportunity to show what I can do, and I'm pretty sure that I will progress through the ranks pretty quickly.

*Jon Heyman is reporting that the Astros had interest in Wei Yin-Chen, and are now turning their sights on Ian Kennedy, not Yovani Gallardo.

*Preston Tucker reminded Evan Drellich on Twitter that he can play 1B.

*The Padres and Astros will play two exhibition games in Mexico City on March 26-27.

*Astros great Jordan Schafer has signed a minor-league deal with the Dodgers.

*The Blue Jays, who were once thought to join the Astros' new Spring Training complex, want a state-of-the-art Spring Training site.

*Susan Slusser explains why the Rams moving to LA means more waiting for the A's.

I can't see why they look to trade for a CF. Gomez is an elite defensive CF. His offensive numbers weren't good after he came over to the Astros, but I would think we could expect some bounce back there.

Hey, as long as they're talking to the Braves... how about Freddie Freeman????

I'm a little confused about the Inciarte inquiry as well. Doesn't make much sense to me. Then again, I'm not the smartest guy in the room.....

This Gomez final arbitration year, he'll likely be gone in 2017. So what do we do about CF then since we traded Maverick to the Brew Crew? The only in-house options are Marisnick or to move Springer to CF. The next outfield prospects are Kenner, Aplin and Fisher, right?

I didn't realize Tucker had 1B experience. I'd be interested in seeing how he would work out there.

I disliked Schafer SO SO SO SO much & was SO SO SO SO SO glad when he was gone.

Schafer is going to try his luck as a pitcher.

Good. He was an awful outfielder.
