A Triumvirate of Chris Carter Bombs.

I have become a fan of MLB.com's "Must C Clutch" segment, which replays the key clutch performances over the course of the season.  The segments play both the TV commentary and radio commentary, which I think is pretty cool.

Anyhow, Chris Carter has been the subject of a few of these segments recently.  Three recent clips are linked below:

Wow.  A couple of thoughts.

Firstly... frikking awesome!!  Good to see Carter have a hot half-season, and looking forward to seeing what he can do next year.  Whatever he has been working on, it is starting to take effect.

Secondly... I really don't mind what missteps the Front Office makes, but if Robert Ford is fired or let go, I don't know how I would cope.  I get to / have to listen to the radio commentary a bit, and I love listening to Ford calling the game.

I agree that Ford is very good.

I *LOVE* Robert Ford, but Steve Sparks makes my ears bleed. The Astros wanted to find a "home" for Sparks, but he has failed miserably on the radio. UGH!!!!!!!

Spark's greated contribution to the team has been batting practice when they face a knuckleball pitcher. I think he's gotten better, but there's a reason why he's not the main announcer, only color commentator.

I love Ford and Sparks, and think they play very well off of each other. While I don't think Sparks is great at the PBP, he's an excellent color guy. Brings both knowledge and humor to the role while staying focused on the game.
