We didn't come out here to play tiddlywinks, son.
I think Correa is ready. Dump Villar and let's do this. I'm sure one or two of ya will disagree. For those who do, I have two words for you: Manny Machado.
^^^^lol uhhh what?machado was 21 when the O's brought him up. Correa is 19. ABSOLUTELY no need to bring correa up right now.why? so we can marginalize his ultimate development for the possibility of a h andful more wins? you'd really rather have 72 wins as opposed to 67 and risk the development of the face of our farnchise?if he were 21, sure...but he still has a lot of learning to do
Actually, Machado was 20 when he got the call and just barely a month past. This isn't about age per say, it's about maturity and Correa has it. Also, wins aren't the issue either. It's about Correa takin' over as the rightful face of the franchise and doing it now. But, we can disagree. That's allowed..
Just in case you doubt me: Manny Machado's Baseball Reference page http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/m/machama01.shtml
want to talk about maturity? fine. how about we let the kid play a season above QUAD CITIES before throwing him to the majors. could ruin his career forever with a premature call up.but yeah. lets just go ahead and say **** it. no need for AA, or AAA...not like we have a lot riding on this kids. lets go for a marginal 5-6 more wins to satisfy your irrational win now mode, though. sounds good.
IT'S NOT ABOUT WINS!! It's about this feeble franchise moving upwards!! Wake up!! I said that already..
I like how he was hitting .150 in spring training, then two homers, then ZOMG he is ready!!!! The bat will play in the majors RIGHT NOW!
Good god, does anyone know how to have a debate anyone without getting butthurt and snippy?
Correa needs to see more pitching at levels above Quad Cities, period. I get the excitement about him and to argue that he isn't the best SS in this organization right now, this very minute is completely laughable. But he's young and needs more exposure to more high level pitching. He is very mature and may very well be ready for the show, but there's no reason to gamble away the best player we have's future on what is sure to be another awful season. That said, Villar is a liability in the field and does not make up for it with his bat. Izturis/Gonzo should be manning SS if Villar does not seriously improve his fielding. We have too much young pitching to let him continue to boot balls around like a little leaguer. And as the poster above mentioned, we can discuss our team without pissing and moaning like a sewing circle. You should all be happy we have him in our organization.
