Brett "The Whiff" Wallace needs a plane ticket to the Mexican League.

Wallace has been working with swing coach Butch Harmon, fitness coach Nancy Kerrigan, Troy Polamalu's hairdresser and is going to be a new ballplayer come February. You can trust me on this. 1oldpro

Yes, Wallace will be fine next year. And about time too.

So we get 2 relievers... 2 rule 5 draft picks... maybe make a trade. Interesting!

I can't help but still want Wallace to come around. That would be a big breakthough. In reality... Wallace is a cheap bench guy.

Not until Jon "Cheech" Singleton stays off the leaf.

I like the lineup a lot with Springer coming into the fold.

Castro, Altuve, Fowler are solid players. Fangraphs is predicting Carter to put up MVP type numbers. I think Dominguez, Villar and Grossman all take steps forward in their development.

Really comes down to pitching. Astros need a true ace (Appel or Rodon) and a very strong #2 (Folty, Cosart, McCullers, Thurman, Woj, Velasquez). I think Cosart and Peacock have solid years with Feldman.

Need to completely revamp the bullpen. Some of the guys listed above might not develop the 3-4 above average pitches you need to be a dominant starter but they probably all have 2 above average pitches that you need to be a dominant reliever.

I thought JD Martinez wasn't on the 40 man.

C'mon Jeff...time to sign Axford (closer) and G.Jones (bat)

Add Chadd Qualls. 1oldpro

Yep, plus Qualls.

Man, impressed by the lack of leaks out of the Front Office. Luhnow said that he had a starter and reliever lined up, and lo and behold, a started and reliever signed.

Obviously a lot of my fellow fans have also seen enough of Wallace.....as regards the possibility of keeping him as a "cheap bench guy", the problem is that he has has only one supposed "tool", the ability to hit.....AND HE HAS CONCLUSIVELY PROVEN THAT HE CAN"T HIT !!!! Watching him face a good MLB pitcher is like watching a cat torture a wounded bird...and if the guy has the ability to bust a fastball inside, it's all over....

Don't want to sound like I hate Brett Wallace or anything; would have loved it if he had grabbed one of his 3-4 chances to be a major league regular, but the results have ranged from average to awful, and he was supposed to be a polished, experienced hitter with tons of college and AAA experience when we got him. Can't imagine what adjustments can still be made to a player who has been tried and failed so many times.

Lets play outright roulette. With the addition of Jerome Williams...

Darin Downs is my pick to go!

The Astros have picked up a bunch of slugs. They will be bad again this coming year. 70-92 would be optimistic. That is not success.
