PreStros Morning Report: August 11

Oklahoma City (69-53), 3.0 up

OKC had a 3-0 lead in the 4th inning, but Las Vegas answered with two in the 4th and two more in the 5th for a 4-3 win over the RedHawks. David Martinez made his Triple-A debut, and he allowed 7H/4ER, 3K:5BB in 4.1IP, leaving the bases loaded for Wade LeBlanc who allowed one of those runners to score on one hit, but struck out four in 1.2IP. Jose Cisnero struck out two batters and Pat Urckfitz threw a hitless 8th inning.

Marwin Gonzalez was 2x4, Jon Singleton was 1x2 with a double, two walks, and an RBI. Jose Martienz provided a double and an RBI.

Corpus (30-20, 1GB), 72-48 overall

Arkansas' Randal Grichuk pretty much beat the Hooks by himself, going 4x4 with a double, 2HR, a walk, and 5RBI in a 7-4 Arkansas win over Corpus. Kyle Hallock allowed 4H/4R (3ER), 3K:3BB in 4IP; Alex Sogard gave up 4H/3ER, 0K:2BB in 2IP; and Carlos Quevedo allowed 1H/0ER, 2K:1BB in 3IP.

Domingo Santana (2RBI) and Erik Castro (BB, RBI) each had two hits - and each of them hit a home run. That's the 2nd consecutive game with a HR for Castro. Ronald Torreyes  and Drew Muren each had a walk and an RBI.

Lancaster (31-19, 4.5 up) 70-50 overall

High Desert had a 6-3 lead at the end of the 3rd, but the JetHawks scored the next six runs, and withstood a rally in the bottom of the 9th for a 9-8 win over High Desert. Colton Cain allowed 7H/6R (5ER), 6K:2BB in 6IP; Gera Sanchez struck out three and allowed two hits in 2IP, and Travis Ballew got his 19th save despite giving up 2H/2ER, 2K:1BB in the 9th.

Carlos Perdromo was 3x5 with a three-run homer on a 4RBI day; Jesse Wierzbicki was 3x5 with a double; Tyler Heineman was 2x3 with a double, walk, RBI; Dan Gulbransen hit his first High-A homer, and Joe Sclafani was 1x4 with a triple and a walk.

Man of the Match: Carlos Perdomo

Quad Cities (30-18, 1.5 GB), 68-49 overall

Quad Cities got three runs in the 3rd, and that was all they needed in a 5-0 shutout win over Wisconsin that included a Triple Play in the top of the 7th - the second Triple Play of the season for Quad Cities. Brian Holmes threw 6IP, allowing just 3H/0ER, 7K:1BB; Zach Morton gave up 2H/0ER, 0K:1BB in 2IP and Juan Minaya allowed a hit in 1IP.

Teoscar Hernandez was 3x4 with 2HR and 5RBI. Danry Vasquez added a double. Tony Kemp (SB), Jordan Scott (Outfield Assist) and Austin Elkins each added hits.

Tri-City (32-22), 1.5 up

Four big innings for Tri-City sunk Jamestown and the immaculately-named Dovydas Neverauskas in an 11-5 ValleyCats win. Evan Grills improved to 5-0 with 5IP, 5H/3ER, 3K:2BB; Charles Basford (1IP) and Kevin Comer (2IP) each allowed 1H/1ER and a walk for each inning pitched. Andrew Walter struck out two in the 9th.

James Ramsay (2B, BB), Tyler White (2RBI), Ronnie Mitchell (BB, RBI), and Adam Nelubowich (2B) each had two hits on the day. Conrad Gregor had a hit and a walk. Chan Moon drew two walks and stole his 9th base of the season.

Greeneville (32-17), 3GB

Kingsport scored two runs in the 1st, two more in the 4th, and then tacked on three insurance runs in a 7-2 win at Greeneville. Austin Chrismon allowed 2H/4R (2ER), 5K:2BB; Christian Garcia threw a scoreless 5th, and Jordan Mills allowed 5H/3ER, 2K:1BB in the final 4IP.

The Astros scattered six hits across six players, but Juan Santana had a single and a walk; Marc Wik was 1x2 with 2BB; Alfredo Gonzalez had the lone double of the game, and added an RBI and a run scored.

Man of the Match: Marc Wik, I guess.
