PreStros Morning Report: July 9

Oklahoma City (49-42), 2.0 GB

The RedHawks got LeBlanc'd as they lost to the Junior Rangers 11-8. Wade LeBlanc lasted 3.1 innings and gave up 11H/9R with 6 K. Jose Valdez failed to get an out while allowing 2H/2R and 2 BB. After that, the Junior Rangers we held scoreless by a combination of Eric Berger, Rhiner Cruz, Philip Humber, and Hector Ambriz.

Marwin Gonzalez went 3x5 with 1 2B and 2 R. Brandon Laird was 3x5 with 3 R. George Springer was 4x5 with 2 HR, 1 3B, 2 R, 5 RBI, and one kitten rescued from a tree. Jose Martinez and Carlos Perez each went 2x5, with Martinez adding 1 R.

Lancaster (15-5), 3.0 up

Lancaster shook off a potentially devastating error to pull out the 7-5 win over High Desert. With two outs in the seventh inning, a fielding error by Nolan Fontana loaded the bases and the next batter hit a bases clearing double to tie the game, but the JetHawks still prevailed.

David Rollins turned in a solid 6 IP, allowing 3H/2R with 8K:3BB. Jonas Dufek threw .2 IP, allowing 2H/3R (0 ER) with 2 BB. Michael Dimock went 1.1 IP with 1 BB. Travis Ballew earned his 15th save with 1 scoreless inning, allowing 2 H with 2 K.

Delino DeShields was 0x2 with 2 BB, 2 SB, and 2 R. Nolan Fontana was 1x2 with 3 BB, 1 R, and that costly error. Tyler Heineman was 2x2 with 1 BB, 2 HR, and 3 RBI.

The ValleyCats and the IronBirds needed extra innings again before Tri-City lost 6-2 in ten innings. Mark Appel made his final start for the ValleyCats and went 3 IP, allowing 3H/0R with 5 K. Evan Grills was next with 3 IP and gave up 5H/2R with 2 BB. Kevin Comer took the loss with 3.2 IP, giving up 3H/4R with 3K:2BB. Patrick Christensen got the final out, but not before giving up 3H/2R.

Eight different batters got one hit a piece, with Michael Martinez' being a 2R HR.

The Astros lost a nail biter to Kingsport 3-2 on a walk-off homer. Chris Lee threw 4.1 innings, allowing 4H/2R (1 ER) with 5K:2BB. Tyler Brunneman went 2.2 IP with 4 K. Gerardo Ramirez had .1 IP with 1 K and 1 HBP. Gonzalo Sanudo threw .2 IP and gave up 1H/1R with 2 K.
