Pre Stros Morning Report May 9th

AAA

Oklahoma City (21-12)

The Redhawks won their 10th straight home game, defeating the Tacoma Rainiers 3-1. The First Oklahoma City run crossed the plate in the bottom of the 2nd. Brandon Laird (H, R, RBI, SB) reached on an error by Tacoma shortstop Carlos Triunfel. Andrew Simunic (H, SB) singled with 2 outs in the inning and scored Laird from 2nd base. The Redhawks plated 2 more in the bottom of the 6th. Jake Elmore (H, R) singled with 2 outs in the inning. Brett Wallace (2H, R, 2B, RBI, K) followed with a double to left, scoring Elmore from first. Brandon Laird drove home Wallace with a single to left for the final Redhawk run of the game. Jonathan Villar had 2 hits and 2 stolen bases. Austin Wates, Carlos Perez, Che-Hsuan Lin, and Marc Krauss were all hitless.

Asher Wojciechowski (1-0) got his first AAA win on Thursday. WoJo threw 77 pitches, 45 for strikes. (6IP, 5H, 3BB, 3K)

Corpus Christi (19-14)

The Hooks fell 6-4 to the Frisco RoughRiders (18-15) on Thursday. The Hooks came up in the bottom of the 6th down 2 runs but would cut that deficit in half on an Erik Castro (H, R, HR, RBI, K) solo homer to right. Frisco put up 3 runs in the top of the 7th but Corpus answered with 3 of their own in the bottom half of the inning. Domingo Santana a (H, R, 2B, 2K) led off with his eight double of the season. Michael Burgess (R, BB, 2K) walked with 2 outs in the inning. Zach Johnson (R, BB, 2K) loaded the bases with a walk of his own. Erik Castro reached on a fielding error by Frisco left fielder Chih-Hsien Chiang. Chiang's error allowed Santana, Burgess, and Johnson all to score. Jiovanni Mier had a hit and was caught stealing. Rene Garcia had a hit and struck out once. George Springer went 0 for 3 with 3 K's.

Jake Buchanan got the start for the Hooks and was strong in 5 innings. Buchanan threw 55 pitches with 43 of those for strikes. (That's not a typo) (5IP, 2H, 4K)

Lancaster (19-15)

The Jethawks broke out for 10 runs on 12 hits in a 10-4 victory over the Lake Elsinore Storm. The Jethawks had their foot on the gas from the get go, scoring in 5 consecutive innings. Joe Sclafani (2H, R, RBI) singled to with one out in the 1st. Sclafani reached second after an errant throw on a pick off attempt, and would reach 3rd on an Andrew Aplin (3H, 2R, 2B, RBI, SB) ground out. With MP Cokinos (H, 2RBI, BB) at the plate, Sclafani scored on a wild pitch. In the 2nd Tyler Heineman (2H, R, 2B, K) doubled with one out in the inning. Chris Epps (H, R, HR, 3RBI) hit his 2nd homer on the season scoring Heineman. In the 3rd Andrew Aplin singled with one out in the inning. Aplin reached 3rd after a stolen base and a passed ball. Aplin would score on a sac fly off the bat of MP Cokinos. The Jethawks kept it going in the 4th. Telvin Nash (H, 2R, HR, 2RBI, BB, K) walked to lead off the inning. Matt Duffy (H, R, BB, K) singled to put runners on 1st and 3rd. Nash scored on a Chris Epps sac fly. Nolan Fontana (H, R, K) singled to right and the Jethawks had runners on the corners again. Joe Sclafani singled to right and scored Duffy. Fontana would score on an Andrew Aplin single to left. In the 5th Telvin Nash hit his 3rd home run, a solo shot to center. After 5 the Jethawks led 9-3, and would add one more in the 8th. Andrew Aplin scored the final Jethawk run of the game on a MP Cokinos single.
