PreStros Morning Report: April 4

Oklahoma City (0-0)

Rained out at Memphis last night.

Corpus Christi (1-0)

All the scoring took place in Innings 3-5, with Corpus and Springfield trading 2-run innings in the 3rd and 4th. Rene Garcia scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch and the Hooks win 3-2, finishing off a successful 3x3 (two doubles and two runs scored) season debut for the up-and-coming catcher. George Springer hit his first homer - a two-run shot - in the 3rd to go along with 2Ks. Domingo Santana was 2x4 with a double, as five of the Hooks hits went for extra-bases.

Ross Seaton started off the Corpus piggyback machine with 5IP, 4H/2ER, 2K:1BB and the Win, while Jake Buchanan threw 3IP, 3H/0ER and Jason Stoffel finished off the game with a 2K inning in the 9th.

Lancaster (1-0)

Just your typical insane Cal League game at The Hangar in Lancaster last night as the JetHawks held off High Desert with a 2-run bottom of the 8th and a 10-9 come-from-behind win. The JetHawks got 13 hits (seven for extra-bases), with catcher Tyler Heineman going 3x5 with a double; Delino DeShields (2B, 3B, RBI), Nolan Fontana (2x2, HR, 2RBI, 2BB, HBP, SB), Zach Johnson (2B, BB), and Matt Duffy (HR, 2RBI, BB) had two hits each. Drew Muren and Brandon Meredith had a hit and a walk each, and Preston Tucker was 0x4, but still ended up with 3RBI as TWO players scored on a deep sac fly.

Mike Folytnewicz had a rough one, allowing 6H/5ER, 4K:4BB, HR, WP in 2.2IP. Carlos Quevedo threw 2.1IP, 1H/0ER, 1K:0BB. Alex Gillingham allowed 5H/3ER, 2K:3BB in 1.2IP, while Blair Walters got the W with 2H/1ER, 1K:0BB in 1.1IP. Texas State alum Travis Ballew got his first save of the season with 1K:2BB in 1IP.

Quad Cities (1-0)

Quad Cities got five runs in the 2nd inning and never looked back as they cruised to a 7-2 win over Kane County. The River Bandits got nine hits - but only one for extra-bases (a double from Carlos Correa, who went 2x5 with 3RBI), but they rang up six walks. Catcher Roberto Pena was 2x5 with 2RBI, and Teoscar Hernandez was 1x5 with an RBI. Jesse Wierzbicki and Rio Ruiz each had a hit and two walks. Jordan Scott and Ariel Ovando each had a hit and a walk.

Vincent Velasquez threw 5IP, 3H/2ER, 5K:1BB, HR for the win and Joe Bircher got your typical 12-out save, allowing 2H/0ER, 4K:0BB in his 4IP of work.
