Pre Stros Morning Report April 26th

AAA

Oklahoma City (11-10)

The Redhawks got the win 2-0 in a rain shortened match up with the New Orleans Zephyrs. (10-10) OKC scored the first of their 2 runs in the bottom of the first. Jimmy Paredes (2H, R, CS) reached with 2 outs thanks to a fielding error by Zephyr first baseman Ben Lasater. Paredes would score on a double from Marc Krauss (2H, 2B, RBI). In the 6th and final inning, OKC scored their 2nd run of the game. Jonathan Villar (2H, R, K) singled to begin the inning and advanced to 2nd on a passed ball by Zephyr catcher Koyie Hill. Che-Hsuan Lin lined out to right for the 1st out but advanced Villar who tagged up on the play. Andrew Simunic (RBI, 2BB) drove in Villar with a sac fly to center and the ball game would be called shortly after. Brett Wallace had a hit, a walk, and a K.

Dallas Keuchel was the lone pitcher on Friday for the no longer tandem OKC Redhawks. (6IP, 3H, 0ER, 5K, 0BB)

Corpus Christi (12-9)

Corpus got the series win against Frisco (11-10) on Friday, defeating the RoughRiders 4-2. The Hooks scored their first run in the top of the 2nd inning on a lead off homer from Domingo Santana (2H, 2R, HR, RBI, K), his 3rd. The Hooks put up another run in the 4th. George Springer (H, R, K) singled to left with one out. Springer then advanced to 2nd on a Domingo Santana groundout. Rene Garcia (H, RBI) hit a line drive to left that scored Springer and the Hooks went up 2-0. Santana led off the 7th with a line drive to center but was erased on a double play ball off the bat of Rene Garcia. Jonathan Meyer (H, R, K) singled to left and would promptly score on a homer from Erik Castro (H, R, HR, 2RBI), his first of the year.

Carlos Quevedo (1-1) earned the win in 5 innings pitched. He threw 60 pitches, 42 for strikes. (2H, 0ER, 2K, 0BB)
Jake Buchanan pitched 2.2 innings and earned the hold. (3H, ER)
Alex Sogar thew an inning and also earned a hold. (2H, R)
Jason Stoffel got his 5th save, a one out job. (0.1IP)

Lancaster (14-7)

The Jethawks rallied in the late innings of Fridays game to defeat the inland Empire 66ers (11-11) 3-2. The 66ers scored a run in each of the first 2 innings. The Redhawks wouldn't break through until the 7th, but they would put up 3 runs in the inning. Zach Johnson H, R, K) led off the inning with a single to center and would advance to 2nd after a walk to Preston Tucker (R BB). Telvin Nash (2H) followed the walk with a single to right but would be thrown out at 1st. (You read that correctly.) Tyler Heineman (R, BB) walked to load the bases. Matt Duffy (H, 2B, 3RBI, K) cleared the bases with a double to center and the Jethawks were ahead 3-2. Delino Deshields (0-4) would ground into a double play to end the inning. Nolan Fontana had 2 hits on the evening and had an some adventures on the base paths. (2BB, SB, CS, PO)

Blair Walters got the start and thew 5 innings. (3H, 2R, 1ER, BB, 5K, HR)
Mike Foltynewicz (1-0) got his first win of the season, striking out 6 batters and getting 5 groundball outs and 1 flyball out. (4IP, 2H, 6K)

Low A

Quad Cities (12-7)

The River Bandits shut out the Lansing Lugnuts 4-0 on Friday. Quad Cities scored in the bottom of the 1st inning and took the early advantage. Teoscar Hernandez (2H, 2R, 2SB) led off with a single to center and would steal 2nd. Hernandez advanced to 3rd on a wild pitch by Daniel Norris. Carlos Correa (H, BB, K) walked on another wild pitch by Norris that scored Hernandez. Quad Cities would put up another run in the 5th. Teoscar Hernandez would again lead off the inning with a single and again steal 2nd base. Hernandez would advance to 3rd on a errant pick off attempt by Ben White. Hernandez scored on a bloop single by Austin Elkins. In the 6th Roberto Pena singled with an out in the inning. Terrell Joyce (H, R, HR, 2RBI, 2K) followed Pena with his first homer of the season, a 2 run shot to left.

Vincent Velasquez (3-0) earned the win and lowered his ERA to 1.17 on the year. (5IP, 3H, 2BB, 8K!)
Joe Bircher got his 2nd save in 4IP. (2H, 2K)

Men of the match: Teoscar Hernandez for making things happen with his wheels. Vincent Velasquez for 8K's in 5 inning and earning his 3rd win.
