Springer to Independent League team?

Good God. It seems as though 1st Round pick George Springer has checked in with playing for the Long Island Ducks - an Independent League team.

George Springer's dad, George:
“Obviously, whatever discussions are going on with the Astros are going to be kept between us and the Astros, and hopefully we can reach some agreement. We have to prepare for all contingencies if that doesn’t happen. I don’t want anybody to read into it more than that.”

While Ed Wade had no comment - and he never has a comment - George, Sr. put the onus (whatever that is) on the Astros:
“I do think he is prepared, and it’s been told to the Astros, that he’s prepared to start his professional career."

If the Astros screw this up, I don't know what I'll do with myself.

I'll take the #1 and #10 picks in next years draft with the new and hopefully improved GM.

This is the dumbest rumor ever. Springer is going to give up his senior year of eligibility in order to play a month in an indy league? Crazy.
