Pence the Phillies top target

CSN Philly's Jim Salisbury says that Hunter Pence is the Phillies' "top target."

A Baseball Official Familiar With The Trade Landscape:
“He’s the guy they want. But the price is very high.”

What do the Astros want?
...A package that begins with Domonic Brown. The Phils might also have to include another top talent such as Jonathan Singleton, a first baseman and outstanding hitting prospect, or a pitching prospect.

Your move, Ed Wade.

If that's really Wade's asking price, Pence will still be an Astro come August 1st.

That's "high?"

Lot of people seem to be turned off by Brown because he's had an average first 40 games in majors.

But he and Singleton still represent two top-50 BA prospects coming into this season (#4 and #39).

If that's the baseline, Wade has to work at prising one of that Clearwater staff away from Philly. They don't need Cosart/Colvin/May and Biddle. It's just greedy.

Does not appear to be an impressive offer. They need to get 3 quality prospects not just 1 real good one and one pretty good one. Wade would be getting fleeced again.

Can't see the Phillies giving in to Wade on this one, after they have worked him so artfully to accept type B-C prospects in the past....Only teams that would ante up that big to get Pence are playoff teams, and they didn't get into that position by getting exploited by bottom-feeders.....
....I'm not a big Ed Wade hater, but the current trade market is yet another black mark against him; he has two potentially useful trade chips in Myers and Rodriguez, but has effectively negated their value with bad contracts....not sure if Crane sounds like the type to pick up some of that money to move them, when he's trying to dump payroll anyway......
