Friedman interested in buying the Astros (and it's not Kinky)

Brian McTaggart has an article on a potential new bidder for the Astros: Kenny Friedman, Houston attorney, chairman of the Harris County-Houston Sports Authority (meaning that he's Drayton's landlord), and father of Rays' GM Andrew Friedman.

Friedman, who says he's already been approved by MLB:
"It's been just a very short period of time, just a few weeks, but I've been very pleased with the response we've gotten from a number of people. I understand they recently entered into an exclusive negotiating period with Mr. Crane and his group, which is not surprising. They're well ahead in their efforts. I'm going to continue to keep pushing until someone tells me not to."

But Zach Levine says Jim Crane is the sole focus, at least at this point.

Drayton, on Friedman:
“We’ve been talking to Kenny Friedman a number of times. They’ve never made a solid proposal.”

So it seems that, if Drayton has any lingering issues with Crane, he at least has a Plan B.
