Eddie's Farm: June 7

Round Rock

The Express jumped out to a 3-0 lead, and then held on for a 5-3 win over Nashville. Andy Van Hekken threw 5IP, 4H/1ER, 0K:3BB for the win, while Yorman Bazardo threw three scoreless innings, and Roy Corcoran gave up 2H/2ER, 0K:2BB in the 9th. Jason Bourgeois and Matt Kata had two hits each, while Maysonet, Bogusevic, Johnson, Navarro, Castro, and Locke added hits. Jason Castro is hitting .333 (12x36) in his last ten games with an .844 OPS.

Man of the Match: Jason Bourgeois

T.J. Steele banged out a walk-off homer to beat NW Arkansas 4-3. Doug Arguello was excellent - again - for a 7IP, 7H/2R (1ER), 8K:1BB performance, though he didn't get the win. After Peguero threw a scoreless 8th, T.J. Burton allowed the tying run in the top half of the inning before Steele got him the BS and the W. Koby Clemens (1RBI), Jhon Florentino, and Lou Santangelo had two hits each, while every other lineup spot had one hit. Jimmy Van Ostrand had 2RBI.

Man of the Match: Doug Arguello

Lancaster dropped 5-3 to Visalia after a 2-run homer in the top of the 12th inning by Visalia's Byron Wiley off Mike Schurz. Dallas Keuchel threw 6IP, 6H/3R (1ER), 7K:2BB for the no-decision. Mike Modica and David Berner threw five scoreless innings before Wiley's homer. Brandon Barnes, Freddy Parejo, and Federico Hernandez had two hits each, with David Flores and Raul Contreras getting the RBIs.

Man of the Match: Dallas Keuchel

Hickory scored two in the bottom of the 9th, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Legends' lead, giving Lexington a 6-5 win. Robby Donovan threw 6IP, 4H/3ER, 1K:1BB for his 6th win. Jose Trinidad threw 2IP, 1H/0ER, and Kirk Clark escaped with the save after allowing 3H/2ER in the 9th inning, inducing a game-ending double play. J.D. Martinez continued his hot season (seriously, can we get this guy to Corpus, please?) with a 3x5, RBI day, and is now hitting .369. Jake Goebbert had two hits on the day. Mier, Hinze, Meyer, Simunic, and Kemp each added RBI.

Man of the Match: J.D. Martinez

I agree with you about JD Martinez. I'd like to see what he could do against better pitching in a lineup with Koby Clemens. Clemens is on a tear right now...if only he could cut down on the strikeouts.
