Drayton is a stubborn son of...

Smilin' Ken Rosenthal's new column at FoxSports discusses the latest in the Hunt for Roy's October in Texas.

Rosenthal says there are three obstacles: The sale of the Rangers, which Roy can't control; The waiving of the no-trade clause, which Roy can control; and this:

McLane must relent on his desire to land top prospects and gain financial relief in an Oswalt trade. To this point, McLane gives no indication of budging.

I don't blame Drayton. The Rangers want Drayton to pay their new ace's salary, as Oswalt leads the Rangers into post-season play.

"McLane has given no indication of budging."

But then again, DMc hasn't said much of anything about what kind of deal he's looking to get. Did Rosenthal bother asking McLane first? Zach Levine did:

"Astros owner Drayton McLane said Monday that the team was “willing to look at anything” between now and the trade deadline and that he will not rule out absorbing a portion of a contract if it allows the Astros to get better prospects in a trade."

Zach Levine beats Ken Rosenthal.
