JJO's interview with Tejada

JJO posted an interview with Miguel Tejada. Some excerpts:

On the future:
"One thing that I always say is this team has been supporting me. What this organization (did) for me, I don't think I don't have anything that I can pay them for everything that they do. The fans and all the support from the players, I think the last thing I have to say is that I don't want to leave from here. I love this town, and Drayton McLane has been great for me. I think I've never been in an organization that gives me more support than they gave me. That's something that I appreciate and I'm never going to forget. If it were up for me, I'm going to stay here the rest of my career. I love it here and what they do for me it's not for me to leave. I don't want to leave this organization before I take it to a championship."

On age, leading the league in batting, and work ethic:
"That makes me work hard. I always work harder. Now I'm older than last year. Every day we're getting older. That's why I work harder and harder. Right now I have a different program lifting weights."

Can I make the obvious joke that, technically, Tejada is three years older than he was last year?

Constable, who would the Bros play at SS if the Miggy was sent packing? The Rev?

The Constable. said...

The Astros will probably try to figure that out before they do something with Tejada.

The Rev (for those of you unfamiliar with the nicknames, "The Rev" refers to Edwin "The Revelation" Maysonet) has filled in nicely - too nicely - for Azz-Mat (Kaz Matsui, +1 to you, Deputy Jason, for that one).

However, Matsui is signed through 2010. Tejada just for this year. If the Astros get rid of Tejada, I would expect Keppinger or Maysonet to fill in there.

Of course, with the Braves up and releasing Glavine yesterday, I could see the Astros releasing Matsui and playing Maysonet.

What do you think of an infield of Berkman, Maysonet, Keppinger, Johnson?

Selling high has never been a strong point for us. Tejada's stock will never be as high as right now. I heard JD and Dave raymond talking about his change to a 38 oz bat for BP. Miggy says he has regained strength in his hands and his bat speed has returned. I think he's just riding some good luck. Sell, Sell Sell!!!
