G53 Recap - Pirates @ Astros

Astros win! And in grand fashion. The Astros beat up the Pittsburgh Pirates tonight 9-1 thanks to a seven run sixth inning - capped with a Grand Salami by Carlos Lee, the 13th of his career.

Mike Hampton picked up the win with a very solid outing - his line:

7.0 IP / 5 H / 1 ER / 5 K / 0 BB

Jeff Fulchino also pitched 2 scoreless innings in relief.

Some notes from the offensive outburst:

-Michael Bourn went 2 for 4 with 2 doubles and 2 runs scored

-Humberto Quintero legged out a triple

-Jeff Keppinger & Geoff Blum were the only starters who didn't collect a hit in the game, but Keppy did drive in a run (yes, I just called him Keppy - hopefully it will stick).

Game reactions are not yet available, but I do have.....

-a bit of a toss up between Hampton and Lee, but this one has to go to Carlos Lee.

2 for 5 with 4 RBI, thanks to a big Grand Slam.

-Geoff Blum. Even the starting pitcher collects a hit, a run and an RBI...but Blum throws out an o-fer. On a side note, what is with Blum's power outage this year?

Given Carlos first at-bat (pathetic) and him idiotically getting thrown out at second on a single with 2 outs (and Lance coming up), I'm not sure how he's the hero. Remember, even without the grand slam, we still win 5-1. Just my two cents :)
