Sunday Morning Hot Links

Between graduation and end-of-year school stuff and then the complete mental collapse as a result of another school year done and dusted, I needed a few days off - from everything. But we back now. The Astros beat the A's 6-3 and are 30-21, still three back of the West Terrell Rangers, who apparently never lose.

1916 A's Watch:

2023 A's: 10-44
1916 A's: 16-37-1

In Day Games, Oakland is 1-22 and are collectively hitting .183/.266/.289.

*The Astros are 10-2 in their last twelve games, 13-3 in their last 16 games.

*In their last 30 games:
West Terrell: 19-11
Houston: 19-11

*Houston is 13-7 in their last 20 road games. Jeremy Pena:

We've known we had a great team from the jump. It's just the flows of the season. We know that. Now it's just a matter of showing up and doing that every day.

*The Astros are 17-2 when they score six or more runs.

*1-4 in the lineup yesterday vs the A's (Altuve-Pena-Yordan-Bregman): 7x16, 6 Runs Scored, 5RBI, 2K:1BB.

*5-9 in the lineup (Tucker-Abreu-Chas-Julks-Maldonado): 1x17, 1RBI, 6K:2BB.

*Alex Bregman went 3x4 with a double and 3RBI. It was his 3rd 3-hit game of the season, and his second since May 17. On May 7 Bregman was "hitting" .195/.322/.320. Since May 7 he's hitting .313/.365/.478.

*Jose Altuve has played in six games this season and has at least one hit in each of his last five. Danielle Lerner: Jose Altuve is resuming his role as the offensive catalyst.

*Jeremy Pena went 2x4 with a double and a homer - it was his first home run since April 29, and his first 2XBH game since April 7. Pena has seven extra-base hits and 8RBI in May.

*Framber Valdez threw another (yawn) quality start: 6IP, 4H/1ER, 5K:3BB. That's nine Quality Starts out of eleven starts for Framber this season. Since allowing 4ER in 4IP against Chicago: 13IP, 8H/1ER, 12K:3BB.

*Bryan Abreu got tagged for two earned runs - his first earned run since May 5. Abreu had allowed three earned runs in 23 appearances (23.2IP) to start the season.

*Sonja Chen: Jose Altuve is doing Jose Altuve things.

*McTaggart: Dickie Thon's son is carving his own path with the Astros.
