Thursday Morning Hot Links

The Astros beat the Giants 5-1 last night. It was a fun game to watch. That has not been true for most Astros games this year, so drink it in.

Zack Greinke called out his own pitches. It was hilarious and has only gotten more funny the more I see it.

In case you somehow missed it, suspensions were handed out for the Jomboy Presents: Astros Fight Club™ Laureano vs. Cintron brawl. Laureano got six games, Cintron got 20. I'm fully aware this is an Astros fan site, but that seems pretty reasonable to me. I'm going to assume that with literally no one in the crowd, MLB was able to hear exactly what was said by everyone on the field, whether it was about mothers or not, I do not know. MLB made it very clear before the season that it was going to increase the severity of punishments for anything that breaks COVID protocol on the field. A coach goading a player to come fight is definitely Not OK.

Oh, also Joe Kelly had his suspension reduced from eight to five games.

Yordan Alvarez is #very close, according to Dusty Baker. He may be here as soon as tomorrow night.

Verlander "hopes" to resume throwing soon. I'll believe that when I see it.

Jake Kaplan wrote an extensive ($) piece on how the Astros are using technology and video to continue to develop prospects all over the world in these weird times.

Michael Baumann asks What Exactly Is Wrong With The Astros? (It's pitcher injuries.)

Alright, I'm on Day 3 of 3 of an all-day Zoom training. I'm out.
