Tuesday Morning Hot Links

Off-day! There are only four off-days left in the regular season. The Red Sox and Angels both lost, so the division lead is 12.5 games, while the Astros have a 5.0-game lead on the Red Sox. There are 38 games remaining.

*The Astros will have to go 26-12 to match the 1998 team record.

*Jose Altuve's next stolen base will be his 30th, extending a 30SB streak to six seasons. Only Cesar Cedeno has more (eight) in franchise history.

*Here's a good interview with Forrest Whitley, courtesy of Hooks' play-by-play man Michael Coffin.

*2017 39th Round pick Colton Shaver hit two home runs last night including a walk-off grand slam in a 10-6 win over Brooklyn, his second walk-off grand slam in less than a month.

*Ground was broken in Fayetteville, North Carolina for the Astros' new downtown stadium.

*Jerry Lewis once played in an exhibition game for the Astros, and hit a single.

Big 3 game series against one of the best teams in the NL. The Astros and Nats are two of the best teams in baseball. This series between the Nationals and Astros won’t be a great indicator of their real teams since so many players on both sides are on the DL. Most notable are the absences of Bryce Harper, Correa, Trea Turner, Lance McCullers, Jayson Werth, Evan Gattis, Max Scherzer, and Adam Eaton. That is a lengthy list and there are more players missing like Brian McCann who is set to come back for the game on Thursday against the Nationals. Still should be some good baseball.
