Notes & Numbers: G3 - Astros at Yankees

The Astros are *scheduled* to play the Yankees at 3:05pm Central today, but that looks a little optimistic:

Mike Fiers has never faced the Yankees as a starter, but has faced some of the Yankees players. The Astros were 4-5 in Fiers' starts, but he left two September losses with the game tied.

Starlin Castro is 2x8 with a double, 2K:1BB.
Chase Headley is 3x3.
Aaron Hicks is 1x3.
Carlos Beltran is 0x1.

So it's a limited sample size.

Nate Eovaldi takes the mound for the Yanquis. He faced the Astros twice in 2015, throwing 14IP, 9H/2ER, 13K:5BB. His last start against Houston was on August 24, when he threw 8IP, 4H/0ER, 7K:3BB.

Carlos Gomez is 3x9 with a double, 4K:2BB
Carlos Correa is 3x7 with an RBI.
Luis Valbuena is 1x11 with 3K:1BB.
Colby Rasmus, Marwin Gonzalez, George Springer, and Preston Tucker are a combined 0x14 with 4K:2BB.

Eovaldi is from Alvin High School and had Tommy John surgery during his junior year.

In his final two starts of 2015 (August 30/September 5) before getting shut down for elbow inflammation, Eovaldi threw 10.1IP, 13H/8ER, 14K:6BB. The Yankees were 18-9 in his starts.
