Sometimes the best deal is no deal.

That's what I've heard anyway.

Or something.

Absolutely real quote from Luhnow when asked about the Astros' activity: "Yup."

I keep looking at MLB trade rumors to see the Astros in a headline and keep drawing a blank. On one hand I'm glad we're not getting rid of prospects, especially because players are getting so expensive and trade or in free agency, but I'm not sure I am satisfied that this team of Astros will make the postseason. I could totally be wrong and they make it. I hope so. The one thing that always amazes me is how a team can totally transform itself during these meetings. Look at the Arizona Diamondbacks. Out of really know where thing he decided to really go for it and break out.

So after taking the eventual World Series champs to a game 5 (and leading in all 5 games) in the 2015 postseason, plus with the addition, of a healthy Carlos Gomez, healthy George Springer, full season with Carlos Correa and full season WITHOUT Chris Carter's 0.3 WAR, you don't feel too confident about another serious playoff run?

It's the bullpen that worries me. I think our position players are great. I also think our options at first base whether it's Singleton or Reed Will be much better. I just don't think our bullpen is strong enough for a young pitching staff. I think McCullers and Keuchal and the other guy in the rotation are a good one to three. But four and five will be a rotation of A mix of people. We need in the bullpen a a strong lefty. Probably two of them. And we do need someone who is either a really good set up man or a closer.

The Astros don't really need much- 1B and relief pitching. I think it would be good o a veteran top of the rotation pitcher to go with Keuchel, but not critical. Chris Davis is still out there. He would be a good fit on the Astros, and a positive veteran influence. Not much still out there for bullpen help, unless they do a trade. Anyone still in on Chapman???
