PreStros Morning Report: April 22

TL;DR

*Org goes 2-1 on the day; cumulative 35-19 record on the season
*L.J. Hoes was 5x5 in a 3-2 walkoff loss to Salt Lake
*Troy Scribner struck out nine (20K:4BB on the season) in a Lancaster win
*Joe Musgrove also struck out nine batters in a Quad Cities win.


Fresno (8-6)

Well. Down 2-0 to Salt Lake heading into the top of the 9th, Fresno managed to tie the game up at 2-2...and then gave up the walk-off (unearned) run a half-inning later, Fresno loses 3-2. Handsome Dan Straily threw 4IP (83 pitches, 53 strikes), with 6H/2ER, 2K:1BB; Richard Rodriguez allowed just one hit, 2K:1BB in three scoreless innings; Kevin Chapman took the loss with 1.2IP, 2H/1R (0ER), 1K:0BB.

But my my, L.J. Hoes had himself a night, going 5x5 with a double and an RBI; Joe Sclafani (who committed the throwing error that led to the walkoff) was 1x3 with two walks. Jon Singleton had a hit and a walk, Preston Tucker added your 2nd RBI, and Max Stassi hit a triple.

Lancaster  (8-6)

Lancaster got all they needed with a big 6th inning to beat Rancho Cucamonga 5-3. Troy Scribner allowed 1H/1ER, with 9K:1BB in 5IP. He now has 20K:4BB in 13.2IP in 2015, and recorded the 200th strikeout of his career last night. Evan Grills allowed 6H/2ER, 1K:3BB in 3IP; Chris Cotton recorded his second save of the season with a perfect 9th, striking out two.

Chan Moon was 2x4 with an RBI; A.J. Reed was 1x2 with a double, two walks, and 2RBI; Chase McDonald was 1x4 with a two-run homer;

Quad Cities (11-3)

Peoria struck first with a 1-0 lead in the 1st, and then Quad Cities scored the next six runs (on six hits) for a 6-2 win. Joe Musgrove needed 73 pitches to get through 5.2IP, 5H/2R (1ER), 9K:1BB; Keegan Yuhl threw a perfect 1.1IP, and Ryan Thompson struck out two in two perfect innings of relief, meaning Yuhl and Thompson retired all ten batters they faced.

Ryan Bottger, Jacob Nottingham (2RBI) and Jorge Martinez (BB, 2RBI) all hit homers. Kristian Trompiz was 2x4.
