Wednesday Morning Link Dump

Just one more day until Hot Grapefruit League Action is waiting for you!

*Here's the Sporting News' Jesse Spector with five "bold" predictions for the 2015 Astros (yes, there is a "Houston, We Have A Problem" section header). Among them: The Astros will be the first team since the 2009 Phillies to have four players hit 30+ homers. Also, 90 losses.

*Carlos Correa interviewed Dan Johnson. Come for the home run story, stay for the many "dudes" and "bros."

*The Astros are looking at a 12-man bullpen pitching staff, of course I meant "12-man pitching staff." Luke Gregerson, Pat Neshek, Chad Qualls, Josh Fields, and Tony Sipp have jobs locked down, so there are two spots remaining, with Alex White and Asher Wojciechowski preparing for either starter or bullpen roles.

*Grant Brisbee writes that Brett Oberholtzer is a key player (as a "proxy for 'anybody'") for the Astros this season.

*Jerome Williams is in Philly to help them get back to the World Series. Ok.

A 12 man bullpen sounds excessive

In this case, I'm sure "bullpen" refers to the entire cadre of pitchers, not just the ones in relief roles.

Good, because I thought that the team was going to be made up of only pitchers (12 relief and 5 starters) and catchers.

Look, I'm sure the Decision Scientists have looked at this, and if they have decided the team needs 12 relief pitchers, 5 starters and 8 catchers, who are we to argue?

What the hell is with "Bold Prediction #4?" Predicting a six-hit cycle, in a 16-inning game?

That's pretty bold territory. Ghost pepper bold. Skipping Mars and heading for Neptune bold.
