With the first pick of the 20th Round of the 2014 MLB Draft (586th overall) the Astros select C Trent Woodward out of Fresno State University.
Woodward is a 6'2" 200lb switch-hitting senior who redshirted the 2013 season after spending his freshman and sophomore years at Orange Coast College. At Fresno State, he hit .290/.399/.382 with 3 HR and 26 RBI in 207 AB. As a catcher, he had Tommy John surgery soon after reaching Fresno State, but he recovered in time to take part in the 2013 Cape Cod League.
