Astros claim Collin McHugh

Via Troy Renck, we get this:

The 26-year old McHugh, a 6'2" 195lb RHP, was the Mets' 18th Round pick in 2008 and was traded to Colorado in June 2013 for Eric Young. In parts of two seasons at Triple-A, McHugh has thrown 173.2IP with 169H/69ER, 158K:5BB for a 3.58 ERA/1.30 WHIP. In 26 major-league innings, he has a 10.04 ERA, but a 5.78 FIP and a 4.51 xFIP. FanGraphs shows that he throws a fastball (90.4mph in 2013), a curve (70.8mph), and a slider (85.3mph) with a changeup (83.2mph) thrown in there.

Although there is no risk involved, it seems like a pointless signing after perusing his minor/major league stats. There doesn't seem to be much there at all.
