The St. Louis Astros of Houston continued their transformation yesterday when the Astros hired Cardinals' minor-league pitching coordinator Brent Strom as their pitching coach.
Strom is actually returning to Houston, as in 1996 he was Terry Collins' pitching coach. Other pitching duties Strom has had:
Kansas City pitching coach: 2000-2001
Expos/Nationals minor-league pitching coordinator: 2002-2006
St. Louis Cardinals: 2007-2013.
Just think about how the Cardinals have an army of robotic pitchers who are all 14 years old and can throw 95+ mph. That's what the Astros are getting.
