From the Office of the County Clerk - G127: Astros v. Blue Jays

Todd Redmond (1-1, 3.32) vs Jordan Lyles (5-6, 5.19)

Ahaha, that's much nicer. After winning back-to-back road series, then getting their butts whupped by the Rangers, Houston returned home to lay down a nice butt-whupping of their own. Jordan Lyles and the Astros cruise to a 12-4 win over Toronto, and Houston moves to 41-85 overall.

On the Mound:

*Jordan Lyles was not at his sharpest tonight, surrendering 10 hits and getting tagged for three home runs. But it was only those home runs that got Toronto on the board at all, and Lyles was more than good enough for the win. His line: 7.1 IP / 10 H / 4 R / 4 ER / 1 BB / 2 K.

*Josh Zeid retired both Blue Jays he faced after relieving Lyles in the 8th.

*Josh Fields allowed a double and fanned one in an otherwise uneventful 9th.

At the Plate:

*Plenty heap o' hitting to talk about. Every Astros starter except Chris Carter had at least one hit, and either scored or drove in at least one run apiece. Six (!) Astros had multi-hit games.

*Robbie Grossman was the leading run producer, going 2 for 4 with a 2-run HR (#4), a sac fly, a K, and 4 RBI from the leadoff spot.

*Matt Dominguez also went deep again, for the 18th time this season, finishing 1 for 3 with 2 BB and 3 runs scored.

*L.J. Hoes reached 4 times, going 2 for 3 with 2 BB, a SB, a K, and 3 runs scored.

*Brett Wallace was the third Astro to score three times, finishing 2 for 3 with 2 2B, a BB, and a K.

*If you haven't noticed, Jonathan Villar is a burner on the bases. He tripled twice tonight to finish 2 for 4 with a R, a K, and 2 RBI.

*Jose Altuve was 2 for 4 with a 2B, a RBI, and a K.

*Brandon Barnes was also 2 for 4, with a R, a RBI, and a K.

*Jason Castro had his first triple of the season to go 1 for 4 with a RBI and a K.

*Marwin Gonzalez singled in his lone PA after coming in defensively for Altuve in the 8th.

Turning Point:

Houston was already up 3-2 at the time, but the 5-run bottom of the 4th was when they broke it open. It went thus: Dominguez BB, Wallace 2B, Barnes RBI 1B, Villar 2-RBI 3B, Grossman RBI SF, Hoes BB. Pitching change, Altuve fly out, Castro RBI 3B, Carter K.

Man of the Match:

Robbie Grossman. Biggest game of his young career thus far.

Goat of the Game:

Khris Karter. DH'd and got the Golden Sombrero - 0 for 4 with 4 K - before Jake Elmore pinch hit for him in the 8th.
