PreStros Morning Report: June 13

Oklahoma City (35-29), tied

OKC had a 6-0 lead and an 8-4 lead, but watched it disappear in the 8th and 9th innings as Iowa tied the game 8-8. A Brandon Laird lead-off single got him to first in the 12th, a wild pitch got him to 2nd, and a Carlos Perez single to right brought Laird home for the walk-off, 9-8 win. Brad Peacock had a great start, allowing 6IP, 2H/1ER, 4K:0BB; Kevin Chapman allowed 3H/3ER in 0.1IP; Josh Zeid allowed two of Chapman's runs; Alex Sogard gave up 3H/3ER, 1K:1BB in 0.2IP; Rhiner Cruz got the BS with 2H/1ER, 0K:2BB; Jose Valdez threw 2.2IP, 1H/0ER, 2K:1BB and Eric Berger got the win with a scoreless 12th.

Brandon Laird was 3x4 with a solo homer and two walks; Jake Elmore (BB), Justin Maxwell (RBI), Marc Krauss (BB, RBI), and Carlos Perez (2B, BB, 3RBI) had two hits each. Brett Wallace was 1x5 with a triple, walk, RBI.

Corpus (41-25), 4.0 up

Frisco's elimination for the first-half championship is now 1.0, after Corpus put a 7-1 whoopin' on them in Frisco. Nick Tropeano threw 5IP, 5H/1ER, 3K:0BB and Bobby Doran followed it up with 4IP, 1H/0ER, 3K:0BB. The two combined to throw 80 of their 113 pitches for strikes. Ian Kinsler was 0x4 in a rehab start with two strikeouts.

JON HOMERTON! He was 3x3 with 2HR/3RBI and two walks drawn; Erik Castro (2B, HR), Jonathan Meyer (2B), Michael Burgess (3B, HR, 2RBI) and Enrique Hernandez (BB, RBI) had two hits each. George Springer was 1x4 with a walk.

Man of the Match: Tough one. But Jon Singleton gets the nod.

Lancaster (37-30), 2.0 up

Oof. Lake Elsinore put up 12 runs before Lancaster got on the board in a 12-3 rout of the JetHawks. Brady Rodgers had his second disaster start in his last three outings, this time giving up 6H/7ER, 1K:2BB in 1.2IP (7.1IP, 17H/17ER, 7K:3BB in his last three appearances). Jonas Dufek allowed 3H/1ER, 1K:0BB in 1.1IP; Tommy Shirley struck out four in 2IP; Chris Devenski gave up 6H/4R (3ER), 1K:0BB in 0.1IP, and Cameron Lamb struck out three in a perfect 2.2IP outing.

Matt Duffy was 3x3 with a walk; Preston Tucker was 2x4 with an RBI; Chris Epps was 1x3 with a walk and 2RBI. Nolan Fontana drew two walks.

Quad Cities (36-29), 4.0 GB

Crazy one at Modern Woodmen Park in Quad Cities. QC had a 4-1 lead until Cedar Rapids scored seven runs in the 8th inning to take an 8-4 lead. Down to their last out, the River Bandits scored five runs, including Jobduan Morales' walk-off two-run double. Quad Cities wins 9-8. Jordan Jankowski gave up 2H/1ER, 5K:1BB in 4IP - the lone run coming on Byron Buxton's lead-off homer; Juan Minaya allowed 4H/3ER, 6K:0BB in 3.1IP; John Neely allowed two of Minaya's runs and two earned of his own in 0.1IP; Mitchell Lambson threw 1.1IP, 0H/0ER, 2K:1BB as the River Bandits pitching combined to strike out 14 Kernels. Yep.

Brian Blasik was 3x4 with a walk and an RBI; Carlos Correa and Jesse Wierzbicki (2B, 2RBI) had two hits each. Austin Elkins was 1x3 with two walks and an RBI; Ruben Sosa came in for Terrell Joyce and went 1x2 with an RBI and a walk. Teoscar Hernandez was 1x3 with two walks.
