30-year mark falls in win vs. Cubs

It took far too long to find this, so we're making a separate post out of it.

Last night the Astros beat the Cubs, 1-0, on an unearned run. When was the last time the Astros won a 1-0 game on an unearned run?

How about April 8, 1982. The Astros - at home - beat the Cardinals and Joaquin Andujar, who threw 7.2IP, 6H/1R (0ER), 7K:1BB, took the loss.

Bob Knepper got the win, allowing just 4H/0ER, 5K:0BB in 8IP. Dave Smith got his first save of the season.

So how did the Astros score the run? Art Howe doubled to lead-off the inning and Dickie Thon, the Patron Saint of Astros County, came in to pinch run. Craig Reynolds sac bunted him over the 3B. Denny Walling hit a ball to Cards' 2B Tom Herr, who committed an error allowing Thon to score, so it was ruled an error and an unearned run.
