Astros go Down Under for big 1B

As the Astros bid farewell to Wandy yesterday, they said hello to a new scouting frontier. Australian International Scout Greg Morriss signed 6'4" 16-year-old first baseman Connor MacDonald.

Of course Houston signed MLB veteran Ryan Rowland-Smith of Sydney before last season, and Craig Shipley of Parramatta, New South Wales, played for the Astros in 1995. But this is Houston's first amateur signing out of Australia.
