Jarred Cosart doesn't give himself a legitimate shot

In David Dalati's piece on hometown boy Jarred Cosart, we find that Cosart didn't really want to sign with the Phillies in 2008:

"When the Phillies called, I was like, 'Thanks, but no thanks.'" But sly old Ruben Amaro got him to sign as a 38th Round pick, instead of going to Missouri.

And he doesn't think he'll make the roster out of Spring Training:
"I want to make the team. But I wouldn't give myself a legitimate shot. I'm still young, I have things to work on but I'm going in there with the mindset that I'm going to make the team."

(He's probably right).

That's the right mindset for him to have. He's barely scratched the upper minors and didn't perform that well in AA ball. He needs a full year at AA/AAA to hone his game.

take out his 2 non-quality starts and he pitched very well, but.... yes he does still have a lot of work to do so he is best suited for AA/AAA until at least sept. we will see how he looks then.
