GCL Off Day Spotlight - Javaris Reynolds

Left-handed CF Javaris Reynolds was selected by the Astros in the 7th round of this year's draft out of King HS in Tampa Bay, FL. He signed quickly and was able to get in a full season in the Gulf Coast League. Reynolds is described as athletic but raw, with above average speed. His senior year he hit .403/.560/.528 with 0HR along with 23BB:6K and 27SB.

Through Sunday's game, Reynolds is hitting .235/.357/.255 with 19BB:39K and 15SB in 22 attempts.

The Astros seem to have a lot of this type of OF in the system, and if Reynolds is going to standout he'll probably need to develop a little more power. The fact that he signed quickly and was able to get almost 50 pro games under his belt this season can only help his development, but he's still too far away to get any indication of his true potential.
