Free Agent comp picks

Someone help me out. Why did I think that a Type A free agent got you two picks and a Type B was one?

(This is the blog equivalent of a dunking booth)

It does. If, for instance we lose a Type A guy, we get the other teams first round pick and a comp/sandwich pick between the 1st and 2nd round. For a Type B guy, I think we would get a 2nd round pick. I may be wrong.
Didn't we draft Jordan Lyles with our '08 comp/sandwich pick?

I have to correct myself.
If we lose a type B guy we only get a comp/sandwich pick and not a official 'round' pick from the other team. Also the first 15 picks are protected, so we can sign a type A without losing our 1st rounder. I think we'll probably have the 7th or 8th pick in 2010.
MLB Trade Rumors has a nice write up on the subject.
